USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Thank you guys, great advice, didn’t even think about buying one way tickets or to look for departures from other airports. Appreciate everyone’s responses.

Also, be prepared to let your kiddo learn to book flights. They will know their departure times better than you will. And their soon to be issued CAC ID # is their ‘known traveler number’ for fast track through security. Also they should always, if possible book refundable flights. Since Covid most airlines have not reinstated change fees. And if you son or daughter joins each airline membership they start to build miles and points.

Just got my nom notification a week and a half ago. List is completely checked off! As this thread has previously said, I’m on pins and needles and check every day to see if they have said anything! In theory I’d get a call from my MOC nominator, they apparently hear first.

DS has had all of his checkmarks including DODMerb since 8/28. Presidential nom on 7/11 and MOC nom from a very dense and competitive district in TX since 12/7. 1420 SAT. He went green on his CFA in June during Summer Seminar. Was told he was 3Q. No LOA. Not sure what to make of all of this.

Not sure what to make of all of this.
Looks like he’s done all he can. So now the wait. And time to tend to Plan B, C, D. Continue working on fitness. Finish senior year strong. Spend quality time with family and friends. And don’t worry about an LOA — it’s rare.

He’ll hear anytime between now and April 1, most likely. In the military, patience is everything.

Congratulations! My DS received his Nomination to USNA from his Congressman here in Ohio on Tuesday!
Now, we wait, fingers crossed, praying, meditating and hoping to be heard in the halls of Montezuma, across the shores of Tripoli.
Semper Fi!
Semper Fidelis! Good luck to your son!

Glad to see a lot of complete apps and noms! Congrats! Now here comes the part of the military training during the app process… hurry up and wait! Hope to hear soon, but mentally prepare for an April notification. Look at previous years threads as many don’t hear until then. Majority of candidates hear late Jan - mid March ish. There are some that get wait listed and that is another wait. Work on back up plans, work out and spend time being a kid. Second semester senior year is supposed to be a blast. It’s the last part of being a kid. Play the video game, eat the pizza, wrestle with your brother, have that sit down dinner with the family. You will miss this moments in less than a year.

Thank you for the comment on the LOA. It's not always clear why some receive and others don't and that's ok.

We live in dallas and we go to Annapolis a lot (our youngster plays a sport) the price from dallas to BWI is usually around $400 ish. You might want to drive to dallas and fly from DFW on American. I think right now I would not trust Southwest with everything that has happened the last week. Also if you have 6 in your family I would get a house to rent. It might be more economical. Feel free to reach out if you need anything. Love helping my fellow Texans!

Yes, we have reserved a vrbo near the Academy, and will purchase our plane tickets soon. We are finding direct flights from Hou with United for less than $400, it sounds like this is as good as it gets. Thank you :)

We are about 1,200 miles away from USNA. For PPW, we decided to drive and make a family vacation of it. Headed out the weekend before. Rented a house for a week. Went and did tourist things, including a first visit to the ocean (at a beautiful DE State Park). Another day was a day in DC. We did an official USNA tour, when it was my busy early in the week. A additional trip to the museum, and Mid Store. There is so much history out there!

The days we had our plebe were chill ones. Mommas cooking, social media, and time at the beach. Amazing family time. We dropped our Plebe off Sunday, and headed back home.

It was a great adventure, and cheaper than all of us flying and renting a car.

I am 2293 miles from Gate 1. I don’t travel often. I make the most of the long weekends I have had and spend time working remotely in Nimitz Library while my kiddo slaves away in the cubicle next to me. I’ve actually only been out twice since our non IDay (Covid 2024). I would say just being present and having coffee or a lunch or walking the yard are a gift.
