USNA Class of 2027 Waitlist: Team Hopeful

TWE :(

DS is Boulder-bound on a 4 yr NROTC scholarship which is a pretty great Plan B though still a sad day. I think he will re-apply. He says he will but who knows, maybe those mountains will woo him to stay. It's been a great journey sharing with you all and I hope many of you have better news today than we did! Officially handing in my 8-ball.
Sorry to hear about your son, I was rooting for him. NROTC is a great option, so is reapplying. On the bright side, much better skiing in CO than MD! Good luck to him!!!!

Is anyone on the waitlist not in need of any waivers like me? I feel like most people on this list have LOAs or were waiting for waivers, and its making me think that there was an error and I should have been turned down weeks ago 😂

We also did not need a waiver. Just sitting “patiently” in the waitlist.

Currently 100% ready, it’s a bit unsettling how people are falling off the waitlist, staying hopeful, working out and hoping to hear some good news soon!

Are the % approval/denial of medical waivers something that rises/falls based on applicant volume?

Update today is DS now has a fully qualified offer. I’ll probably post on the appointee list. Before I go, we wanted to say thanks to everyone for your support, information , willingness to share your hopes, dreams and disappointments. It really helped when we needed it and to provide some perspective on this trying process.
big thanks to @Old Navy BGO @IronmanDaremo @OldRetSWO @Capt MJ especially for your wise counsel.

Farewell, Good Luck & Thank you Everyone!

It’s refreshing to see some movement on this list in both directions. However I must admit the wait is excruciating. Having people ask “what’s the plan?” Just to reply with my plan b is just saddening. To come so far, to put some much forward , to and know I was just a few slots away. Im not quite sure if this could be related to my predicament but before I applied an individual in my Congressional district had an LOA. Fast forward we both get noms and I’m medically qualified. However, he comes to find he wasn’t medically qualified because his vision was -8.5, so he’s pending a waiver. If he weren’t to receive the waiver would I fill his slot or would it roll to someone else on the list.

If LOA waiver is not granted, then I assume they go to the highest WPM on the list.

If LOA waiver is granted, it could mean the slate is filled. But they have options to place that LOA on other slates/sources that they control taking a strong candidate from that slate.

I wouldn’t worry about what others said. Plan B is a great alternative. I think it is such a buildup of hope and desire and anxiety that we overlook life paths to the goal that causes the sadness. Be proud of your achievements.

I hope it works out.

Also - it is possible someone else already won the slate.
