This x one million!! Our oldest (21) still has his checking account from when he was under 18 (zero motivation to change it). If he doesn’t change it next year, I’ll request that he does. It’s attached to ours - which I get (ease of $ transfer
) but at some point it’s time to adult & cut the cords. Both times, I never had access to their SA/DODMERB/ROTC portals & emails. I don’t want it. I’m doing them zero favors if I try to micromanage this process because it’s gets real very fast once they leave. We need to be there to guide but they also need this time & these experiences to test out those wings. We absolutely discuss possible email responses, how to handle situations, even provide suggested verbiage … but … I believe firmly that they need to own this. I know there are different opinions on this & I believe in “you do you” but no one will change my mind on this - I will die on this hill
….
