She is doing you a favor...mine never coughed it up either. Heck, I didn't even bother asking. With my obsessiveness I would have brought the site down. It's all for the best, she showed me the portal one and only time to reveal the appointment notification. Doesn't get much better than that.
 
As stated many times, there are multiple steps for admission. There is a review to make sure a candidate is qualified (academic, fitness, medical), which is done by one group in admissions. And there is a separate review by Noms and Appointments, which is the group that puts together the class. We do not know when each group meets. You are getting speculation and perhaps a comment from an admissions counselor.

You could be sitting 3Q and awaiting for Noms and Appointment to review the slates and finalize them for quite a bit of time. It is a huge puzzle that doesn't just get solved on a Tuesday or a Thursday.

I hate to break that so carefully constructed gouge tidbit but the reality is that the ADMISSIONS BOARD meets on Thursdays and during high volume times on Tuesdays as well to REVIEW FILES but the output of that is not an appointment offer but instead they are sent to Noms and Appointments to match against the appropriate slates.
For What its Worth, the actual Admissions Board members do the admissions work on a part time basis as they have other major jobs within USNA and do not work on Admissions "stuff" full time. The Noms and Appointments staff are all full-time admissions people so their work is every day.
 
Is the portal update an automatic thing? It showed mine was last updated at 5 yesterday and it was updated again today at 11 am.

i think it just updates when u go on the portal. Mine didn't actually update until I got a decision. So, most likely you'll hear thru email or phone. Sometimes it can update without you knowing. Like for my medical waiver, it updates randomly and I didn't know.

When I logged on to check the portal it had updated independent to me getting on. Also it updated again at 12:00 so do you think that it is possible that my application is being pushed through the different committees?

eh I mean it depends so I can't really answer that. Unless your status changed, EX: "pending" to "CPR", or your medical status changed to DQ to pending waiver, probably not. I'm not sure if it does that if they are making a decision.

Yes, that update-time thing is an automatic caching process. It doesn't mean anything significant, though I and some other candidates have noticed update times that aren't on the hour and the current speculation is that that could be someone looking at your file.
 
Bottom line; it's not that deep. You'll get a decision eventually and I would recommend to just wait for the phone call from the nominating source or the email for the portal updating. The time listed on the portal is likely for the entire site and not specific to one candidate.
 
Yes I agree, the only time your portal updates and when you should worry about, is either DQ to a possibly waiver/CPR to pending, etc. The time thing literally doesn’t mean anything and just updates randomly/when you go on the site. Trust me this waiting sucks, but looking for tea leaves that don't mean anything makes it worse

I just asked, a coach I'm talking to also said they haven't reviewed

ALSO: the java says under most items on the checklist says "Validated=False" but that might not mean anything
