USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

My DS is pending-has 2 noms 1540 SAT-SS- has taken 8 AP classes. I know we are right at it, but it is trying everyone’s patience. The 15th is also the day he has to accept a scholarship to his 2nd choice….
Hang in there Stl! Sick SAT scores - that’s awesome!! I think many who are still in limbo at acceptance deadlines go ahead and accept scholarships or other SAs while they wait - then if they get lucky with first choice they turn down the other accepted offer. I know, it feels wrong and super cringy to me - but I’ve read it’s the norm and my DS plans to accept his 2nd choice SA if he has no answer from USNA by 4/15. Good luck!

DS did the same thing - he was CPR after everything was complete back in the fall.... then turned to Pending forever .... until today.
I had suspected based on what I’ve heard some people say here that maybe the CPR to Pending was after the initial screen for academic qualification that then gets passed on to the actual review board that assesses slates and makes appointments? My son is in the same boat, CPR until December or January, then Pending.

It’s crunch time. My props to all the candidates out there that decided to attempt something different by applying to USNA. You challenged yourself and decided to compete for an appointment. However it turns out, I salute you and wish everyone the best moving forward be it plebe summer or your new chosen path. You candidates were in the “arena.” Stay in the arena in all you do. I leave you with this from President Teddy Roosevelt.

USNA never tells candidates if they are academically qualified as West Point does with 3Q letters. However, if your DS is still in the game, we can assume he is academically qualified. How much his SAT is weighted in his WCS (Whole Candidate Score) which really matters in competition within his slate ? West Point has some formula published in SCOTUS Doc --

WCS = 6 (CEER/ACEER) + 3 (CLS) + 1 (CFA)

CEER = 316.935*HS PCT + 0.333*SAT EB + 0.981*SAT M - 572.502

here CLS is community leadership score, and HS PCT is high school rank -- say if he is top 5% that means 95%

Based on a few private communications -- it is very clear West Point takes great consideration on SAT/ACT (also evidenced in this document). However, we really don't know how test score is weighted in USNA's WCS calculation --- it seems though, it also matters because it is listed on application portal.

At an admissions visit last year, USNA emphasized how important it was to be well-rounded.
