USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Sorry if I muddied this. The “NAPSters and prep” I referred to are the ones currently completing their NAPS or sponsored Foundation Scholar year, and when their appointments to 2028 tend to show up.
Offers for NAPS and Foundation prep for the Class of 2029 will continue to trickle out alongside offers of 2028 appointments.

We are also from IL. DS is still pending.
 
I've heard gossip from some people who I went to nass with that they called their admissions counselor and they said the hear by date has been pushed back from April 15th to May 1st, can anyone confirm/deny? If so that's pretty unfortunate, the wait is bad enough as is

I doubt that more than I trust it. If it was something as significant as that I'm sure they would push out a notifcation to candidates.

Almost every college in the country requires a response by May 1. It makes sense if they are behind that they would move the date, but I don’t think it would work in practice. I hope they don’t move the date, but it’s is highly unlikely that they do. But who am I to know.

Additionally, other candidates who received appointments to other academies have to make their decisions by May 1, so I don’t know how that is going to work. I’m in this boat with a USMA app but holding out for USNA.

Not purged yet ! When will big purge come ? It seems most are still pending. It was April 12 last year right ? So it might come again on the same date. Friday will be good so TDs have whole weekend to reflect on this long journey. Again, best luck to all the re applicants. While I do admire the perseverance of re-applicants I do think everyone should also think of moving forward and have a big picture of his/her life --- for all those who are willing to serve -- that is to think what is the best way to serve !

There was a large purge on April 9th, but maybe there is another purge day coming.
 
Good morning from CA ~ just sharing my DS portal experience and I’m stumped in my tea leave reading. I’m the portal checker as he is currently emersed into military college life on PlanB NROTC-MO scholarship. He is the MOC’S primary and was Turned Down Monday morning, I didn’t say anything as he was completing FTX and frankly I want him to log in and or / receive the news via email himself. Well, being the portal checker I am, I just logged in and his status changed back to pending. Has this happened to anyone else?? (He is a reApplicant, waitlisted NAPS last year until mid June.)

We only have an appointment list thread -- no a purge list. As soon as DS gets purged, I will create one!

In the application portal "my progress", there are some important factors such as DoDMERB qualified date, CFA qualified date, Nomination type and date received. USNA does not tell candidates if they are academically qualified but interestingly enough in the portal it lists Official Test Scores -- Not sure if it will help future applicants to have a bit more details

I'm not sure what the metric is in determining appointments, but I like it this way. It gives me the impression it's very much a people, hands on approach. Real people, looking at applications from real people. I have more faith in a system where someone is actually taking the time to look at each applicant to make a determination. Frustrating for sure, but I believe that academies are making the their best decisions for their academy.

Wow, how strange. Glad you didn't tell him! What a roller coaster. Maybe just a data entry error on TD?
