Hello all, today I received my final status for USNA Summer Seminar. I was turned down and the email read:

“Thank you for your interest in the United States Naval Academy. While we were unfortunately not able to offer you a spot unto Summer Seminar 2018, the Dean of Admissions would love to meet with you to offer advice and encouragement to complete your application for admissions for the Class of 2023.“

The second and last paragraph encourages me to reply with a time frame that works on the planned day to meet with Dean Latta.

MY QUESTION: Is this common? Did anyone else receive this email? Has anyone done this before? Thanks!

There are way more applications than slots available. It is his way of trying to make sure good potential candidates are not discouraged by being turned down for NASS. Take up his offer and you can ask him direct questions regarding your (yet to be completed) file. Take him up because not everyone is going to have this opportunity!
make an appointment to meet with the RC when you pick up your son, so you can go over his application (unless he already received his appointment). The RC will tell him exactly where he stands and what he needs to get an appointment.
Who knows, maybe he has been lurking around here and took one from West Point’s playbook? Right, @brovol?

My DS was turned down for SS and got an appointment in early January. He did not get an email with that wording, though. It was a “regrets, but you’re still in the running” email.

Yes. And over the last couple years the Naval Academy is wishing it had Army's playbook on a lot of things. Lol.

Speaking of the Army Navy game......

So did any of you happen to catch yesterday's presentation of the commander-in-chief trophy at the White House Rose Garden? Oops, wrong forum.

@brovol Thank you for stopping by. It’s May so the craziness has died down a bit and NASS and Plebe Summer are again on most people’s mind.

There are two doctors in the same department in WRNMMC. They graduated in the same year, one from WP and the other from Annapolis, and went on to med school upon graduation. The horrible thing happened while they were at the academies? Army won all four years! That, my friend, can never happen again!

Isn’t that right, @DrMom?

Btw, you did exactly what I expected: not one post but two! And probably a whole lot more to come!
