Usna stem camp

Update! My daughter was emailed today to inform her of her acceptance into the STEM camp (rising 9th grader). She was notified back on 5-1 that she had been placed on the wait list. FYI, for others on the waitlist as it seems that rejected slots are being offered to those on the wait list. Good luck to all who remain in wait for this year.

Congrats to your DD for making the waitlist! Hopefully, she'll get the go ahead soon.

My DS got the rejection email from USNA STEM. However, he was accepted to the SAME (Society of American Military Engineers) STEM Camp at The Air Force Academy, so he's excited about that.
Could you tell me a bit more about the SAME camp itself? (anyone else can also chime in) Was it mostly about construction/civil engineering or did it also cover other types of engineering? (aerospace/chemical/etc) Thank you!

The SAME camp was mostly construction/civil engineering. However, all types of engineering fields were discussed. There was a day where they were able to explore all of the engineering labs at the Air Force Academy (not sure about the other SAME camp sites) and ask questions in each area. My DS was very impressed with the labs and measured his other college visits against the facilities at USAFA. The aerospace lab was very impressive to him. My DS was/is not particularly interested in Civil Engineering, but he really enjoyed the camp and considered it a very worthwhile experience.

My kid did the SAME camp at USAFA in 2019. He loved it! He said it was the greatest experience. He had done the Navy STEM camp as a rising freshman and he wasn't as thrilled, probably because he was younger. But the SAME camp convinced him that he really wants to go to USAFA. Now he waits.....
