USNA summer STEM confusion

I recently was accepted into the summer STEM program at USNA, I applied and received acceptance to session three because during the first two sessions my school year is still going on. Session 3 is the week after I get out of school and I am afraid that my school district might add more days onto our school year due to the coronavirus break we are on right now. If I accept my offer to attend this camp and then later figure out that it conflicts with my school year, will I be able to decline my acceptance later? Also, I would be willing to miss my finals week of school to attend this camp if it is really worth it, so would it be worth missing school for?

Everything is very confusing right now and my school might end up canceled for the rest of the school year, but basically, for now, I am wondering if I should accept my offer (i need to know by April 10)?

Be on the safe side and accept the invitation. If you have to back out for school reasons, it surely won't be held against you, as many others will be in a similar boat. There's so much uncertainty right now and everyone has to deal with it, USNA included.

As to whether STEM is worth missing school over, depends on how interested you are in USNA, whether you need a week there to determine whether it's right for you, and what your school demands will be in those last couple days (often, makeup days are actually throwaway days).

If missing a couple days won't affect your grades, and it's clear to the powers that be that you're visiting a college, you should be able to attend NASS with a clear conscience. But also know that whether you attend STEM -- or NASS -- will have zero bearing on whether you receive offer of appointment next year.

Yes, definitely worth the time off from school.
Hopefully they will still offer them this year.

uhh, and miss finals as OP said? really? as in get an F or a zero on each final missed?

not sure how your math worked on that one, but I would like to see it.

I believe I would be able to talk with my teachers and take my finals the week before finals week, its something I need to look into.
