I'm currently in the 8th grade and looking forward to applying for the Naval Academy's STEM program. The question I have is whether or not you must have a PSAT score or if it is just recommended. I have great grades, good athletics, and STEM experience but no PSAT score. Anything helps, thanks!

Your best bet to get an accurate answer is to ask USNA Admissions directly. You can do this by communicating directly with them live using the USNA Widget. Check that out here. Click on the connect icon in the top right of the page.

One other way to experience USNA is to attend one of the summer sports camps there. You stay in the dorms, eat in the mess hall, meet midshipmen and work with the coaching staff. I have had a number of students attend sports camps at all of the SAs (except USMMA, which does not have them). All of the students enjoyed their visits and experiences at the camps. Best of luck with your STEM camp application!

The link doesn't work on my end. Could you resend? Thanks!

Its just on the USNA Admissions page.

I attended summer stem as a rising sophomore and had taken neither the psat nor the act at that time .

My DS attended Summer Stem as a rising sophomore last year and did not have any SAT or PSAT scores.

Summer STEM does not require a PSAT. Since it is a program available to various ages, those who might be older than a rising Freshmen might have a PSAT score.

Son didn't have one when he applied. He fell in love with USNA and the labs when he attended. Set the hook so to speak.
