I have an LOA, nom, and medically qualified. Does this mean I am getting an appointment or is there anything else that needs to be done?

Have you satisfied any conditions specified in your LOA? If you have, and with a nom, you should be very optimistic.

The conditional offer just said “ you must complete the remaining actions” and the only action was a medical qualification and nom... so I think I’m in, but I have thought that before and then more things are thrown at me but I think this is it for real this time.

Yes. That would qualify as satisfying all the remaining actions. You will receive a Fully-Qualified Offer of Appointment.
It could take a little longer with the government shutdown. You may or may not get an EMail notifying you of a change in status, so just try to check it once a day (after 5PM) and report back. Congratulations!

Is the government shutdown affecting admissions?

There are civilians working in Admissions - but from what my Plebe has told me - there have been no outward signs (at least from his little view of it) of the shutdown on The Yard. All the civilian professors are there working, but I have NO IDEA if the civilian staff in Admissions is there this week or not.

We’ll look for your post on the Appointment Thread, fingers crossed.
My only concern is that I have only one nom from my congressman. What if somebody has already received an appointment from my nominating pool, and therefore my nom would be no good. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but if anyone understands what I mean and can give me an answer that would be great.

The LOA nomination does not count against the MOC. No need to worry about that piece.

There could be 7-8 candidates on a slate get appointments depending on their competitiveness and other nominating sources. This isn’t uncommon to see in very competitive areas. Many times these candidates are very high in the national pool or have other noms like Presidential. A candidate with an LOA can certainly be charged to a MOC slate. Remember the top 150 in the National Pool are selected and charged to the Sec Nav. Just because someone on your slate has an LOA or appointment doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road. Who a candidate gets charged to can move around throughout the process.

Simplify all of this, and take USNA and its LOA at its literal word.

You have a nom. You only need one. They told you what you needed, and you have satisfied that. Even if all the slots available in a class chargeable (key word) to your MOC are taken, remember USNA can still offer appointments to others on that MOC slate or with noms from various sources, but not charge them (key word) to those sources. They are charged against a different category.

Go and read the Nominations forum Stickies again. Go find @usna1985 Admissions FAQ posts. Breathe!

USNA can choose from those who have noms of any flavor to fill out the class, according to the applicable guidelines.

I missed a word here. The LOA nomination does not necessarily count against the MOC. However, as already reemphasized, you don’t have to worry about it. If you satisfy the conditions listed for your LOA, you are in the best possible place to receive an appointment.
