Video: USNA Class of 2026 Plebe Summer

Who helps with the uniform measuring and other stuff they did at the beginning? Is it like professors or parents or something?

There’s a sizable group of USNA staff that manages and provides uniforms, haircuts, foodservice, etc. They’re quite literally the backbone of USNA, for without them the place would come to a screeching halt. They work hard to ensure the mids are well cared for.

There is a variety of individuals (in terms of rank) stationed there to help the machine run: newly commissioned Ensigns awaiting their departure, junior LTs on their first shore duty, and more senior officers in positions of ever increasing leadership and instruction.

For example, as I understand things the PMPs (of which I am one, though still finishing my PhD) are encouraged to assist if not overly engaged with research during the summer.

No Waldo spotting for me, but video has much more "meaning" than the ones I've watched in the past. Hoorah!
Didn't see my Waldo/Mid but saw several in his C company in several spots. I'll have to watch again and maybe he's in background. Agree, much more "meaning" for us.

For parents . . . keep in mind that everything you see (posted photos, videos) weren't available in our day. The first time parents saw their kid in any form after I-Day (if they attended I-Day) was on PPW. The only exception was if they lived close enough to USNA to attend the plebe parades and could pick out their mid among a sea of bald guys and short-haired girls.

When something isn't available, you can't miss it! :shake:

Plebes got to hear from leaders that have “been there.” Commander Kirk Lippold, (USNA ’81), (20:31 mark), was the Commanding Officer of the USS Cole (DDG-67). The Cole was struck by suicide bombers piloting a small boat packed with explosives on October 12, 2000. She was refueling in Yemen. This event was the precursor to 9/11. The heroic damage control efforts of CDR Lippold and his crew saved the Cole. The view of this image is of the port side of the ship. Plebes learned the rudiments of damage control this summer as seen in the video.

My YoungSTAR 🤩 was so impressed with his Calculus Syllabus that he sent me a picture of IT, instead of himself for his 1st day of school!

He said he would send me a picture later this week! 🤦🏻‍♀️
Save that photo, enlarge it, frame it, caption it how you wish. At your Comm Week rental home, set up a table displaying I-Day pics, his plebe Dixie cup, other milestone photos and memorabilia. All part of the journey and a fun story to tell.
