Does anyone know when about the Villanova NROTC Unit fills up? It's my second choice and if my first doesn't come through, I'd like to know I can transfer. Also, I'd be trying to do so in December. Thank you for any insight.

My daughter's scholarship has been placed at Villanova. The freshman advisor contacted her regarding the scholarship. You could probably contact her and talk to her about it. Her contact information is on the Villanova NROTC website (google Villanova NROTC) under "Meet the Faculty". You will need to email her and she will get back to you but I'm sure she could provide you with the information you are looking for.

Can't answer your question, but I thought you should know that you cannot begin the transfer process until April.

I thought you were able to switch your scholarship any time after you got it. ?

No. If you are assigned to another college, than you have to wait until April when the dust settles and the colleges know how many slots are still available to transfer. That is the problem many recipients face. They are awarded a scholarship to their dream school which maybe a reach, and their number two that could be a match, they roll the dice and take the dream only to find out in Feb. they were not admitted which leaves them scrambling in April trying to transfer the scholarship.

A few years back there was a poster that went to Nova and it is what many would call a powerhouse unit. Many ask for that school due to the programs reputation. I would be surprised if they have spots available even for boards come the end of January.

You will receive a 6-page set of instructions/ forms for requesting a school change once you receive your scholarship. There is a form to submit should you request to transfer to another school. After initial placements are completed and a unit is full, your transfer request would place you on a wait list. You can request placement on up to 5 different units. You are placed on the waitlist in the order that the request is received.

In general, no movement on the waitlists occurs until after May 15th.

This information is four years old (from DS's acceptance package) and subject to change. I provided it as directional for your information.

If you search back far enough, there is an older post from me that listed the NROTC units that traditionally fill the fastest (source was P-Flying 17 - a NROTC insider). It listed others that traditionally have openings. I don't remember Villanova being on either list.
