My DS received the Waitlisted email today. I realize no one knows this for sure, but does anyone ever come off it? She is not hopeful at all... Thanks

Looked through your post history and saw she attended NASS. I cant guarantee anything and I'm not informed enough to give you a solid answer but in my opinion, given that she hasn't been rejected, and has been put at least on the waitlist, she probably has decent chances. I'd say higher than 50/50. Dont quote me though

In years past it was very low the number who came off the wait list. This year could be different, but based upon the last few years it was a handful or so that came off (what was reported on the forums). Normally they will cut this list even more after the May 1st accept/decline deadline.

In past years it was. The letter in past years stated the number. Does the letter this year say?

Wait list means no TWE. Which means you’re still in the running. Which is better than a sharp stick in the eye.

What you don’t know is what # you are on the wait list. And what the offer acceptance rate — the yield — will be. So make sure Plan B is being fully activated, and you’ll have a happy ending either way.

DS waitlisted. Hard to hear the news but so beyond proud of his plan B1 and B2. I can’t wait to hear his final decision !

Received an email that my DS is Wait listed for USNA c/o 2023. That is his first choice.
He also spent quite a bit of time in Summer Seminar & candidate visit weekend - Disappointed
Thankfully he has acceptance from USMA & USAFA & has to commit by May 1st.
Question: How does the USNA wait list time line work ? When will he hear go / no go, I mean earliest and latest. Will BG officer have any insight or suggestions on wait?
Any response appreciated. Thanks

DS was also was placed on the waitlist. He was 50/50 USAFA/USNA. We are headed to the USAFA next week for one of the tours for appointed students and he is going to make his decision after the visit. We have never been to Colorado Springs and I've always been told how beautiful the campus is (been to Annapolis three times). My guess is that I will have a future Falcon on my hands and he will withdraw from the waitlist but in the end, the decision is his.

None of us know how admissions will handle the wait list this year, we can only provide what has happened in years past. The last few years they have made cuts to the wait list from early May to mid June. May 1st is the deadline for accept/decline as you all know so USNA will have a much better idea of yield after that date. Just like you have seen on this thread there are appointees waiting on other decisions to make their final. USNA traditionally has a very high yield and therefore the wait list has not be used much. As the class solidifies; waivers finalized, final acceptances, etc are completed they start to cut the list. USNA wants to provide clarity. Now if admissions made changes to the the amount offers made or changed something this year, then it could be used more. One of us really know, just conjecture based upon what we have seen the last few years.

Question for all the folks who received a waitlist email: did your portal update as well?

BBQ,

Colorado Springs/USAFA is outrageously beautiful if you are an outdoors type, and the weather beats the heck out of the East Coast. Once you see it, you may want to go with him!

To all here that ARE waitlisted, know this: you are so very close!! And IMHO, that would indicate a high chance of an appointment next cycle should you ultimately not be pulled this year. Yes, it’s disappointing to not be offered ‘23, but SO encouraging for ‘24. You are THIS close (holding fingers closely together)!! Thats how I see it. And it would be pretty neat to have a year of ‘regular college’ before attending. Or, perhaps you will love your plan B so much, that it’s your new amazing plan A. And we won’t see you back.

I picture it like this: waiting in line to get into a venue for a performance. Once it fills up, the rope closes off. But you are right up in the front of the line for that next performance!

Congrats to all here. You are all amazing people!!
