People of the forum:
this is more of a vent than a question, but any insight is appreciated.
yesterday I had correspondence about my DQ. It was an AMI request. I just scheduled an AMI remedial appointment, but I have to drive 3 hours into another state and their first appt. was at the end of April.....
I have offers from my #2 and #3 schools right now that I need to decide on by march 25th. I know that USAFA is where I belong, but I don't know what I will do if the waiver gets denied and I passed up my #2 and 3 schools. What should I do here? Does USAFA give conditional acceptance upon a waiver being granted, or does the process go on hold? I think it's crazy that leaves less than 2 months before I-day, and I STILL won't know! I am going to see about going with a different office, but in the meantime, this is incredibly frustrating!

Call your 2 and 3 schools with your talking points in front of you. Explain your situation, see if they have any flexibility to extend your decision deadline. You’ll have to be diplomatic and appreciative. Ensure you note who you talked to and their contact info, send a follow-up email thanking them.

I’ll defer to ALOs here and @MullenLE for any additional advice.

He's not asking me. He knows how to get a hold of me. He's addressing it to the People of the Forum and venting:wiggle:

Many elements of life are still very affected by Covid. Staffing issues, etc. This could be the case with the inability to get an appointment any sooner than what you have. Another thing you could do, if you haven’t yet, is request to get on a “waitlist” for an earlier appointment, should one pop up.

Good idea, but the doctor is "not working this office" until April anyways. Thanks for the insight though

I'm glad to have you as a resource, but I try not to pester you with my venting without a direct question. Thanks for your constant help regardless! If I have any direct DODMERB questions you are the first one I go to

that's a great idea, I will definitely do that.

So, as an ALO, my hypothetical thoughts are:

1. Is USAFA your ABSOLUTE, TURN EVERYTHING ELSE DOWN, choice?
2. If #1 is YES, however your "Plan B" is hollering for an answer by March 25th or they will "drop you like a bad habit, never to reopen the door" then you have to make a choice.
3. If you said "YES" to Plan B, are you legally obligated to them in ANY way?
4. If the answer to #3 is no, then ACCEPT PLAN B, (disregard PLAN C) now.
5. Wait to hear from USAFA; if they come back and all is well and they offer you an appointment...
6. Accept USAFA appointment; call Plan B and explain you just had a change of career plan...

Just some "it's almost spring break time at my school" thoughts by an old teacher/ALO...

Please accept your plan b is there's no legal consequence.....I kinda didn't make a good plan B 😂. No joke I didn't apply to ANY AFROTC. I did apply to I think two schools. Was I that confident I would get in? Haha no. I got zero of that confidence. I just felt burned out after applying for USAFA and Imagining going to another ROTC and doing another physical suckeddd. I was applying for Missouri S&T and Embry Riddle btw.

Don't do what I did. Please. I got very lucky with the falcon foundation. Have a plan B you like just slightly less than USAFA. Do your research and be ready to reapply. So again accept if there's no legal consequence. If you have to put a down payment that's fine! Better to pay 50 dollar to school you may or may not go to then have no school to go to! If you get accepted to USAFA then you payed a total of 50 dollars for tuition for your whole college experience. Congrats.
