I had been disqualified because of a history of pulmonary embolism/systemic embolism. I felt that my chances were very slim. I had surgery to correct Paget Schroeder Syndrome.:frown: Through the waiver process I was granted a waiver.
I just want to thank all of the people known and unknown at DoDMERB who helped me through out the waiver process. :shake: I know that I would never have made it without the help of Larry Mullen:angel:. He is by far the most dedicated person I have had contact with. I believe that he views the cadets as people and not just case files. He is truly an asset to DoDMERB.
The people who work with him are just as dedicated and care for the people that pass across their desks. These people are the best!:thumb:

I hope we get some news soon - my son checks the site everyday. He has had an LOA since October and a nomination and is waiting on a waiver. He had the remedial test done in early December but USNA never pulled the report. He didn't know that until someone from the medical review board contacted him and asked for the report...then they realized they hadn't pulled the report that Dodmerb posted. We are waiting....patiently?! Trying to at least.

HI, that sounds a lot like my son's story. Check with Ms Yvonne Graham at USNA medical, she is really amazing. Also, the USNA medical officer has just taken over the job and was using the former officer's assessments/notes. If you call, you should be able to get him to talk to you directly about your son's case. His name is LCDR Ewing and he is really very nice. Good luck.

Waiting for waiver also

My sons has a Principle Nom and found qualified..so the waiver is our last hurdle. Honestly, we have just about everyone praying for son, including everyone at his school and our community! He was waived at one SA, so we're hopeful ?...... I've been in touch with Mr. Mullen, and his associates at DoDMERB and they are truly great people, who go above and beyond daily. Taking a proactive stand though, and we'll be making more appointments in the coming weeks to help his case. Extra prayers are welcome.

My son heard first from his representative via a phone call (1/11). A few days later (11/14) a letter came stating he had been granted a waiver. A few more days (1/17) and the official packet came. He received his nomination in December.
