Waiver Timeframe?

My daughter is under waiver review. We have not heard if any supplemental documents are necessary. We are concerned about the 5/1 college decision day, as she will need the waiver granted for her ROTC scholarship to attend her top choice. Mr. Mullen, could she email you to check on the status?

Hi,

I recently was put in for a waiver in early December for USMA regarding counseling sessions - approximately how long does it take for a waiver to be approved/disapproved?

Thank you
Any luck with this? Also did some counseling sessions so I assume I will also be put in for a waiver. Let me know!

I did 12 sessions from 3/21-8/21 because of family losses/ being kicked out. Not sure how this will affect me moving forward

K2Rider = Once an applicant was determined to NOT meet medical standards (DQ), waiver decisions are provided by the specific program medical waiver authority and the decision for 4 year applicants (ROTC or SAs) come via letter to the applicant from the ROTC program or the SA. For in-college ROTC, the decision comes from the waiver auth to the Commander to the applicant. DoDMERB posts the decision on the website. :thumb:

Success2B - U would be best served to cut and paste your posting; provide full name and last 4 SSN; and send to me at Larry.Mullen@dodmerb.tma.osd.mil. I can assist U better from there:thumb:
Mr Mullen,
I figured I might be able to reach you here. I’m currently going through the second phase of green to gold (FY2022). The only thing I’m waiting on in order to get an offer letter is a medical waiver (history of anxiety- no meds- 4 visits to BH during a deployment 2 years ago- had a psychiatrist that DODMERB selected, evaluate me- also sent up my BH records- my processor confirms I had satisfied all requests for documentation on 3/23 and everything was sent up to WA). I learned that all BH waivers have to go through DMPM. We have a deadline of June01 for all waivers to be granted and I’m beginning to panic. My DODMERB account still sayid under waiver review and I’ve reached out to everyone possible for an update. I was told it should take 4-6 weeks and I’m at my 6 week mark. I would be eternally grateful if you could help me any information. @MullenLE

Any update on her situation and how long it took?

Hello, I’ve been currently under waiver review since late march for a food allergy waiver for Army ROTC. I am due to attend basic camp in the coming weeks and was wondering what my chances are for obtaining such waiver just in case I need to start working on plan B, whenever I submitted my AMI I included clinical results (blood test + food challenge) in addition to a letter from an allergist starting I am no longer allergic.

Any update on her situation and how long it took?
So sorry, I just saw this. We went back and forth with DODMERB providing information, and she did received a waiver in time - about 3 days before the 5/1 decision day deadline. The individuals we worked with at DODMERB and USAF were amazing. However, the process was frustrating in that we would submit information that we thought was sufficient and they would ask for more documentation (most of which did not exist, because she did not have the medical issue), including pharmacy recoreds and an additional medical appointment. We did not expect to have this issue, and in hindsight we should have done the exam much earlier in the process. Exam was mid-March, provided several sets of information in April. Waiver granted end of April. School and USAF scholarship accepted by 5/1, so happy ending.

Mr. Mullen, you helped our daughter with the process for a waiver and we are waiting to hear back. We are supposed to be leaving to take her on an 11 drive to college where she is waiting on the waiver for a full NROTC scholarship to be activated if a waiver is given. We are concerned because if she is not granted the waiver she will have to return home after her first semester because we cant afford the out of state tuition. She completed the NSI phase 1 earlier this summer at Great Lakes and is considered a midshipmen. Any suggestions?

Mr. Mullen,
My son is waiting on DODMERB to give him an answer about his NROTC scholarship. It has been pending waiver and under review all summer and he is now at college still waiting. Is there anything we can do to get a status update on this? Should we just go ahead and pay the tuition? If he gets the waiver, will we be reimbursed? I'm at a loss of what to do. Any help would be very much appreciated.
