West Point Rejection Letter

I reached out to both and my regional recruiting officer said he would make a note on my file that I was interested in USMAPS.
To be considered for USMAPS, does a candidate have to explicitly tell someone about their interest in USMAPS? Aren't rejected USMA candidates automatically considered?

I too received almost the exact same disqualification letter, probably due to my math SAT scores but the letter did not say. My CFA is still pending, waiting to hear back on my DoDMERB as I had to supply AMI. I reached out to WP Admissions via email and expressed my interest in USMAPS and received a response “probably not this round”, to me that is a “no”. I’ve accepted US Army ROTC scholarship. Should I still let FFO know of my USMAPS interest? Or is it a “No” and reapply next year?

I've come to learn that the Admissions Reps are pretty honest about someone's chances and/or options. That being said, it couldn't hurt to let the FFO know you're still interested in Prep.

Does anyone know about when the letters of rejection or appointment come in? I had an LOE but I'm still working in medical and will probably need a waiver. Who would I need to talk to about my interest in prep school? Sorry if this seems like I'm clueless, I did a lot of this by myself and am still struggling to figure it out as I go.

Offers of appointment or rejections can come in anytime after one is fully qualified (academic, physical, medical) and has obtained a nomination. It could happen right up until R Day. But, the majority of offers of appointment will come out between February and March. The numbers will slow down in April. In May, there may still be a trickle of appointments. Rejections can also occur anytime. You could discuss the Prep School issue with your RC. The RC will have a good idea as to how competitive you are as compared to your slate and others on the NWL.

So my medical is under the review process and no decision has been made on it. I attached the letter I received.
My DS received 2 of these rejection letters and was accepted on his 3rd year trying. Keep improving your file and do well in civilian college and you may get the golden ticket down the road. USMA liked determined reapplicants. Good Luck!

I can call my representative/senators or ALO/BGO for my position on the slates, right?
I wanted to confirm in order that was information that I am not allowed to know.

Your BGO won't have that information. Only the MOC staff would, and they could tell you, or they could say no. You received a nomination. Unless you received a letter stating you were a principle nominee, it's not likely you will be told your 'rank'- and that's assuming they ranked, they aren't required to.

Regardless, it's out of your control.

Keep your chin up and stay positive! The fact that you did much of this application process yourself speaks volumes to the determined and hardworking person that I am sure you are! Sending good vibes your way re: medical waiver and hoping you hear some positive news soon. Hang in there! :)

Prep School is only for candidates who are academically disqualified from being directly admitted to USMA. Regardless, I rescinded my application during '25 cycle due to personal reasons and did a year of ROTC before coming here. It was the best decision I ever could've made, hands down changed me as a person and allowed me to experience a whole differnet lifestyle and mature myself a bit before attending USMA. 100% gave me a leg up both here and in life. Stay positive if you get denied this cycle, if you want it bad enough, USMA will see that. Make the most of regular college!

Hang in there! The waiting is the worst. You can reach out to your FFR, and respectively ask for any insight he/she may have. Our DS also handled much of the process himself. It is good preparation for what is ahead. You’ve also found a good place to get your questions answered.
