What Does a Senatorial Nomination Code Look Like?

My son mentioned his candidate portal reflects an "IL62" posting in the Nominations section. It is definitely not a congressional nomination because it does not reflect our district number. Can anyone shed some light on what this means? Is it a senatorial nomination, and if so, how does he know from which Senator did he receive it? Thank you!

AVT is correct. Here is one more tidbit about a Senator's nom code:
If you receive your Senator's nom, the state abbreviation will be followed by a 6 and then a 1 or 2 for Senator #1 or Senator#2. EX: MO61 or MO62.

Apparently YES, your son received a nomination from your State's Junior Senator. As to what type, slate, ranked, or Principle I don't know how that will show if at all on his portal. Usually the MOC sends a letter or phone call to the nominee.

Which district are you in?

Thank you for the info.

Portal shows 2 nominations (with 2 green checkmarks) but both detail code IA62. However, I have only received a nomination letter from our Senior Senator...which would be IA61. Could there be a mistake on the portal? Should the portal show IA61 and IA62 if I have two nominations? I only sent materials to our two Iowa senators.

The easiest answer is to call the academy and inquire about it. Without calling to verify the most likely scenario is that the Senatorial office (IA62) had 2 vacancies this year to fill and submitted your name on both of their slates, thus you received 2 noms from the same office which is why you're seeing the code twice.

The 1 and 2 are not always accurate. They are “usually” senior and junior but not always. My state the senior senator retired and was replaced. The junior senator kept the number 2 for a year even though they became the senior senator. As with anything academy there are very few concrete rules.

True. True. True. I use to think a 1 meant Senior Senator and a 2 meant Junior Senator, but there doesn't seem to be a consistency with that as some Senior Senators use a 2 and some Junior Senators use a 1. I haven't been able to figure out reason why except that maybe each state determines how they will use the 1 and the 2.

My DS did not secure a mom from 2/3. However our senators office emailed saying he should be hearing about interviews this weekend. Nothing yet. We don’t know if they meant by email or mail? Now we are approaching holiday time with offices closed. What is the time
Limit to secure this nom? Thanks for any info.

Nominations must be submitted to the appropriate academy no later than 32 January. Good luck.

Did you figure out what IL62 meant? I also have "IL62" under my nomination section.
