What to do If you win? (AROTC)

Will there be a button to click on to select the school that you would like to apply the scholarship to?

No - when you receive your "Winner" letter in the file upload section. You will need to select the school of intent, sign the document (have your parents sign if you are under 18) and upload the document to the portal. The upload will be accepted and you are then committed to that school.

I don't mean to hijack your thread;

I was just marked winner, but I don't see a letter of intent.
Would that be under the file upload page, or do you know where could I find that?
Congrats! Well Done! I am still at B/UC so I am hoping the 3rd Board will work in my favor!

ROTC Scholarship recipients should receive a DODMETS/DODMERB email in the coming weeks. NOTE - check your spam/junk email box as they often end of there. You can always go to the DODMETS website and login as "applicant login" to see if your info has been uploaded. Remember Parents - help your DS/DD with the questionnaire - Don't self diagnose.

I can't agree with this more. My DD completed the questionnaire on her own and out of an abundance of caution "self diagnosed" and it nearly cost her the scholarship. That would have been a $300,000 mistake had we not gotten things straightened out.

Thank you so much! I am very excited. I was selected for TAMU, VMI, and The Citadel. I want to go to TAMU but haven't heard back from their admissions yet. Can I wait until I get in to sign my letter of intent? Also, how do I contact someone from TAMU to ask a few questions?

You need to be able to figure these things out. Follow the instructions. This isn’t the hard part. You just completed a rigorous application and interview, so you have the ability to FIO. Go to your source and find out your info. No one here has your instructions.

Congrats on your scholarship.

I presume there's guidance/explanation within the portal about how an AROTC commitment is managed if a candidate is ultimately successful in obtaining a SA appointment? If not does anyone know the short answer?

Short answer is a SA ‘overrides’ an ROTC award. You should accept the ROTC award. DS did this exact thing.

I don’t think override is the right word...If you get selected for an SA, and you also have an ROTC scholarship offer it is your choice...If you chose the SA then you can decline the ROTC offer or even just wait and have that offer withdrawn when you start at the SA. Conversely you could decide the SA is not the best fit and choose the ROTC route. You could then respectfully decline the SA offer.

And even if you chose to accept offers and SA appointments no one is going to come to your house and make you follow through. You always have options.
