Where do I stand in admission?

Hey everyone,
As deadlines start to roll in, I wanted to see if I could answer a question that has always been in the back of my mind: how good is my application to the USNA and other service academies?

Is there anyone I can contact or ask to look through my resume with me? I would assume this would be the BGOs, but I just wanted to make sure.

Or I could just post some of the best parts of my app here and you all can tear it apart.

thank you!

I would suggest asking your BGO. He/she can be an invaluable resource. Every year there are scads of "chance me" threads like this, and I don't think that most candidates get a lot out of our responses. Just my take on it. Your mileage may vary.

Put all your effort into getting a nomination. Without a nomination, it won't matter what is in your application. If you are lucky enough to live in your State's capital, consider hand-delivering your application paperwork (unless it is entirely online). You may get to meet one of the nomination staff or the nominations coordinator. If you do this for both Senators and your District's Representative, you may even meet the same person more than once. Several MOCs pool their resources for nomination staff. It may not matter at all, but when you walk into that first interview and see a familiar face, it may put you a little more at ease. Calm and collected is always good, for an interview.

Find out now what those nomination application deadlines are. They are usually all different, and they can vary by weeks or even months. Don't miss one. There are sad stories in threads here about potential candidates who have missed nomination deadlines, and they always ask "what can I do?". The answer is always "nothing".
