Will the USNA still notify me of Appointment even if my medical records are not finished yet? And what happens if you don’t pass Plebe Summer?

Will the USNA still notify me of admission whether if my medical records are still unfinished?

It's been taking me awhile to gather my medical records for my Remedial. Will they still tell me if I am accepted/rejected if I do not have my Remedial completed yet?

You cannot receive an appointment without being medically qualified. If they decide to offer an appointment and your medical is not completed yet they will issue an LOA until you are 3Q.

I actually have never met anyone that has not passed Plebe Summer. There are performance reviews and boards if someone is seriously messed up. It would have to be a combo or lack of motivation, failing in PT and not learning any rates. There would lots of discussions with leadership about why someone is at USNA, why the struggle, how they are preparing each day, etc.

NavyHoops, as always is spot on! Just one tweak - medically qualified by DoDMERB...OR... medically waived by the USNA —in other words, finality to the medical element of an applicants application.

This is an unprecedented period in our history. USNA Admissions, DoDMERB, and applicants are working diligently to get everything aligned within a constrained timeframe, for all concerned parties.

I got an LOA for medical remedial when I got in... so technically they can tell you that you are accepted, but you will not receive (or at least I’ve never heard of anyone receiving) your acceptance package until the medical paperwork is turned in.

Four "Must haves" to receive an appointment to any Academy (except USCGA)

1. Be selected by Admissions.
2. Passing the CFA.
3. Receiving a nomination from an authorized source (not required for USCGA).
4. Be deemed medically qualified by DoDMERB....OR....be medically waived by that Academy.

Addressing the second part of the query: Typically, someone who doesn’t “pass” Plebe Summer doesn’t really want to be at Plebe Summer. And that’s a shame.

As others have said, the days of "Look to your left. Look to your right. One of you will be gone." don't exist any more. The #1 reason people leave USNA is b/c they don't want to be there. The #2 reason is they can't pass the 1.5 mile run in the PRT. And there are some who have conduct or honor issues. They don't just run people out the way they did in our day -- and that's a good thing.

It's normal to have some nervousness about PS. If you're really questioning whether you want to attend a SA . . . give it a lot of thought. Be sure you're going b/c YOU want to be there -- not b/c a parent, grandparent, teacher, coach, friend, sibling, etc. wants you to be there.
