Hi I apologize if my search for this answer was missed. My daughter accepted her 4 year AROTC scholarship offer and I logged in to make sure we didn't miss anything since the deadline to accept is soon. The winner instruction page is titled SY1920. So it is safe to say this is last years and the deadline for the APFT is not Dec 15th, 2020 ?? Just triple checking !

Your post reads as a bit confusing. Maybe these details will help. The AROTC scholarship typically has to be accepted in a brief turnaround. The letter should specify but I think it was about 30 days from the date of the offer. You can accept now and then update to decline later if your DD receives a SA or other ROTC branch offer she would prefer. It is not binding.
But you said she already accepted this scholarship ( congrats that’s great she received one in the first board) so what’s the question / what information are you seeking? If the letter or folder read fy1920 (is that what you meant?) simply why would you care? Her acceptance is in, you should confirm it’s received on the portal. Please clarify what you need and I/ others will try to help.

I know when my son was awarded a scholarship to two different schools, the commander from each of the two detachments contact him directly via phone and email. I would have her reach out to verify information and dates.

Your scholarship won’t activate until your DD passes the fitness test next fall/ her first semester. Is that what you’re asking about? I could confirm anything this
Important with the source vs an internet board.

I had the exact same question and posted it a few weeks ago, but I didn’t get any answers at that point.

The instructions for the 4-year AROTC winner say that the APFT is due in December 2020. Did they forget to update that? Is it actually due in December 2021? That is what I think the truth is.
My son emailed the source to ask, but they just referred him to his university (which he hasn’t even finished the application for yet).

It doesn’t seem to make sense for my son will go to the AROTC program at the universiry he is applying to and ask them to administer the APFT. They don’t really know him, and we don’t live anywhere near there.

Everyone always says to read every instruction and do every single thing exactly as stated, but this instruction doesn’t make any sense.

I expect they meant that you contact the AROTC unit at the college(s) he's applying to.

@Wahoo Fan and @MKHB. Agree. Folks call the rotc detachment at the colleges you are applying to and confirm this detail directly. Then please share what you find with details to the board. Agree it’s likely a typo and yet This is too important to guess and not to confirm.

@Wahoo Fan @MKHB if they’re referring to the APFT, then it hasn’t been updated. December 2020 would be the cutoff for last cycle’s scholarship recipients to activate their full scholarship benefits (it’s the latest they’re willing to pay first semester’s tuition).

If I remember correctly, the new contracting fitness test will be a modified version of the ACFT (3 events, HR push-ups were one of them). That’s at least what the kids who failed the APFT are doing.

Besides, it’s not like you can have a bunch of scholarship recipients rush out to ROTC departments (most of which have gone home early) or recruiting offices to schedule the APFT.

I hope this helps!

Just checking in—
Did anyone hear from an official source that the 15 December 2020 deadline for APFT is a typo?
Or should my son just do it to be safe?
I hate telling him to do it just to be safe because he has a ton on his plate right now, but I am afraid for him not to do it.
???

Did your son reach out to the ROO at one of his scholarship schools to ask? The APFT isn’t something he would do on his own anyway.

The APFT is something you do after joining an AROTC unit and it must be successfully completed prior to end of first semester for scholarship benefits to kick in.
