kayaker - glad no news yet!!! Hope you make it over the weekend - those seem to be the scariest days - Fri-Sat-Mon.
I totally sympathize with the ROTC glitch. DS contacted his recruiter - MO NROTC - over the summer with an application question (relating to school selection). Well, he gave DS the wrong answer (one he should have known), which caused a delay in September, which caused DS to not make it into the 1st board in November. DS pestered & followed up when the problem surfaced in September, recruiter said he was working on it but still no answer was forthcoming, so DS finally contacted CGO in FL in desperation and they gave him a clear answer immediately. I don't think it's too much to expect the recruiters to have the correct answers to basic questions. Sheesh. Trouble was, DS couldn't know at the time, way back in the summer, that the answer was wrong, and he proceeded based on that information.
I think moral of the story is as bad as these kids feel "making pests of themselves," they really do have to follow up aggressively, and don't assume everyone they are working with knows what's going on. Double-check everything. Trust but verify
ps - I don't think any of us - meaning everyone on this forum & our kids - had to give up anything for Lent - stalking the mailbox is enough penance!
