AROTC Board 2

I am a winner from the first board. My top three schools were Citadel, UTK, and UNG. Tough choice to make between the Citadel and UTK. UTK was kind enough to offer for me to have my PMS interview there. By the deadline, I accepted the Citadel. I am very pleased by my choice. Great plan B. I will be at the February 6-7th Knob Overnight at the Citadel. I am still waiting on West Point. I have two nominations right now.
DS is also waiting on WP he has one nomination. We are also from Tennessee. He got the 4 year, this was his first board, he did not apply in the fall. Choices are VMI, Citadel and U of Mississippi

For those who are still B/UC, do you think the message will change and inform us that we didn’t win on this board either?

Seeing that there is such a broad range of ACT/SAT scores among the winners appears to support that the interview carries a lot of importance and weight for the OML ranking.

The interview carries weight but again it's just one part. The process looks at Academics/Leadership/Athletics. Leadership is a large part, things like Student body government, Eagle Scout, Editor of a school paper or yearbook, Captain of a varsity team, All of these carry weight and can be a big part of overcoming a lower test score, it can also slow the process for higher test scores if the applicant is short on leadership. This is why just knowing someones test scores and GPA don't tell a complete story.

No, it will simply stay the same until the next board.
I was just curious since it says that I didn’t win on the first board but still being boarded for this board. Wasn’t quite sure if it would say I didn’t win this board either and tell me to wait for the 3rd board. Thank you.

Congratulations! But isn’t ED binding? So if the scholarship doesn’t transfer will he lose it?
American University’s ED agreement allows for financial hardship - so, if not enough aid/ scholarships present, they release you from binding.

Still b/c over here sadly. I'm keeping my hopes up for the third board but I feel like my chances are slim. Congrats to the people who got it though! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed and mad at myself, but as long as I can get in the AROTC program scholarship or not I'll be happy!

I have a 29 ACT, (32 in English, 25 in Math, 32 in reading, 25 in science) 3.4 uw GPA 3.72 weighted

Eagle scout, 4 year varsity and letterman in Lacrosse, Freshman mentor, Freshman Mentor executive board, 2x Club president, beta club member, Order of the Arrow Brotherhood and Chapter Chief, Boys State delegate and Boys Nation alternate, worked a job since I was a sophomore, held a student body position, had a very good PMS interview.

I was told I'd get at least a 3 year AD offer... but here we are

My friend, there’s one more board, and so often I’ve seen 3-years changed to 4-years. Do not despair. You are an outstanding candidate! ....and Junior Moderator. I’m rooting for you!

@sfburd - This is just the beginning of the journey. There are other ways to commission if you don't get a scholarship. @kinnem has a great historical perspective on his DSs journey without an initial scholarship. Keep the faith.

Agree with @THmom - you have good stats. Stay the course, have plan b and c.

Wow. Me and you pretty much have the same stats; sports and all, minus Eagle Scout. I contacted a ROO for one of the schools I might go to and he said I had strong profile and would be surprised if I didn't get a scholarship for the third board; I'm sure he'd say the same for you. Although, you need to keep walking with that chip on you're shoulder. I was upset earlier today when I found out I didn't receive a scholarship, and I started to think about if I won't get a scholarship next board. I realized not getting a scholarship wouldn't be a bad thing necessarily. I could join the National Guard in my case and receive financial aid for my tuition while receiving additional pay and being in ROTC. Or I could walk onto ROTC at my campus and kick-ass. This wasn't the end of the world trust me, there are multiple roads for us to take. Keep you're head high and let's enjoy our last few months of High School.

I got an ECP scholarship from the first board... makes me think it was the only offer they were gonna give me

Just gonna have to accept that reality at this point
