DS received 3 snail mail letters last evening from Virginia. One was the Kaine nomination, which he saw in his portal a couple of weeks ago. One was a Spanberger nomination (VA-7). The last was a rejection from Warner. The Kaine letter was dated Dec. 28 while the other two were Dec. 21. It's starting to get real....
Good luck to all!

I heard that VA does not double nominate from my congresswoman (VA-2) since they all coordinate together. Is your district an exception I suppose?

Even in states that coordinate, there are double noms.

If every district nominated the ten best in their districts, we would have to assume the Senators don’t nominate any of them?

My congresswoman stated that every nominee is not double nominated in order to ensure that everyone gets a chance. I assume Virginia and each MOC does it differently then.

I know ... we heard the same thing but we know there were double noms.

You can’t assume anything. Unwritten agreements to spread the wealth isn’t law that has to be followed.

My DS was told, in his senatorial interview, that they WOULD be coordinating with the other senator. So we were pretty surprised when he received two senatorial nominations to the same Academy. The district gave him a nom to 3 academies. So, my guess is that each year is different, even within the states/districts, and who even knows what factors into the decision making.

My DS heard that the senators coordinate their nominations. No idea about the congressional side. Only received a letter from Spanberger VA-7, no other confirmation. My DS actually believed he had the best shot with the one he got the rejection from. Go figure.

Also, how do you tell if you are the principal nom?

Any congressional updates from New Jersey? I know that the senators don't release decisions until late January and our congressional representative for our district hasn't even scheduled interviews yet, but what about other districts in New Jersey? Maybe there was a post and we missed it.

The MOC either do a principal nominee with ranked slates, principal nominee with competitive slates, or competitive slates with no principal nominee. Usually the last method is the most common for most MOC. They can either let you know or keep it private, it’s completely up to them. I suggest that you contact their office to really know if you are the principal nom. I had the same question as well for the Senator Warner nomination. I was planning on contacting their office sooner or later this week. Good luck!

Most congressional representatives in NJ coordinate with Senators. I’m NJ-02 and although we had our interviews already (mid-November), they’re waiting to see who the Senators nominate to which academy before figuring out their noms. The noms will go out towards the end of this month.

That makes sense - was not aware of this for NJ specifically. Good to know. Thank you and if you are a candidates - good luck!

NJ-01 no update yet

PA09 hasn’t even done interviews yet
No worries, I am in the same boat over here in California for my congressional district. They haven’t even reached out to schedule any type of interviews. Some MOC prefer to do it later 🤷‍♂️
