Wait wait I was trying to be kind to those who can’t or won’t eat mammal bacon, and also had a thought for those making a living making those “bacon” (do air quotes help?) products for a living.

@THParent i did! And so did my Airman and hubby.
I have tried making it before for Valentine’s Day. Was NOT that eloquent. Bacon tasted burnt (bc you have to have it properly crispy), and the chocolate was lumpy (not properly tempered). It was quite gross actually.
I waved my piece around. With my SAFB marked with sharpie on my wrist. No takers. Probably should have been kicked out now that I think of it
Hubby and son headed to the car….

I’m in Downtown Minneapolis this weekend for a family wedding. Mrs. Stealth and I went for a stroll in the area around the hotel this afternoon looking for somewhere to grab a bite. We came across a gem known as the Bacon Social House. They actually serve an appetizer which is a “flight” of bacon with either 3 or 6 varieties of bacon on it. I must say I was impressed. The rest of the menu has bacon weaved throughout. If you’re in the area check it out.

I envision the Bacon Social House to be somewhat like the Heisman House ads, except that everything is bacon-centric.
It’s a chain! Locations in CO and Minneapolis, as noted. Please please let it come to Annapolis. The Applebee’s, Macaroni Grill, Brio, and other locations are shuttered and available.

I don’t have pictures, but tonight I cooked diced smoked bacon in the trusty cast iron. Pulled it out to drain and promptly placed halved baby yellow Dutch potatoes into the bacon fat. Seared until crusty and yummy brown.
Added diced onion and fresh thyme the DD picked. Then added steamed fresh green beans and garlic. Tossed until all mixed and happy and added the cooked bacon.
Served with a marinated and perfectly seared and grilled pork chop.
Yum. The world is good in this moment.

Are you saying all those other restaurants are now closed? Casualty of COVID? Or tornado 🌪? Either way, sad to hear.
Small side note: we drove West Street when we were back for the Air Force game. So sad to see. And our sponsor moms favorite restaurant, a Gyro shop, is said to be permanently closed. Covid plus tornado 🌪 more than the owner could manage. Me heart broke seeing the destruction still evident

Who has an idea for this? SIL, who works for a meat distributor, brought it home For me. It’s already sliced. Ideas??
My British neighbor would be jealous. She can't find it anywhere around us. She renders it real slow, and uses it like we would use bacon.
