Band aids have to be ripped off sometimes. Pain will happen. What matters is your bedside manner and the AD had none.
Not sure we know that the AD had no “bedside manner.” We don’t know what was said and how it was said.Band aids have to be ripped off sometimes. Pain will happen. What matters is your bedside manner and the AD had none.
Agree I wasn't a fly on the wall. But based on the interviews with Coach Ken, it wasn't great. Not sure we know that the AD had no “bedside manner.” We don’t know what was said and how it was said.
We know the bandaid was taken off sooner rather than later.
The only separation is in finances, which is good and proper.I’m no lawyer but looking at the language of the NAAA constitution, the separation between USNA and NAAA isporousnonexistent. Buck stops with Buck. Tax paying public would have a hard time seeing a difference.
Clearly, you're talking about the sponsors at Navy and Marine Corps Stadium and you could not be further from the truth. Those Corp sponsors on those jumbo trons want wins ….
I second this, as I also worked for one of the major sponsors. They are there to become familiar to the next generations of officers headed to the Fleet and Corps. Team records were of little interest. TheClearly, you're talking about the sponsors at Navy and Marine Corps Stadium and you could not be further from the truth.
The major sponsors like Navy Federal, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed, Boeing, and USAA are NOT there to ally themselves with the team, they are there to show support to USNA itself and the broader Navy and Marine Corps. They were there in the bad old days when Navy rarely won and were also there when we had 11 win seasons. I actually worked for a couple of the major sponsors and was "in" on some of the sponsorship discussions at one of them so I KNOW that the won/loss record or specific football prospects was not even part of the considerations that were discussed.
I would add "worth letting him finish on 'his' terms." If you are a USNA coach (of any sport), and you are being recruited away or tempted by greener pastures, the way someone of his resume was dismissed would likely be enough to convince anyone to go ahead and punch their ticket out of USNA.While I agree that change happens and sometimes needs to be forced to happen, I believe it would have been good will to let him finish out the one remaining year he had left on his contract. In an industry that has no loyalty (sports in general), Coach Ken has been there for 25 years and to me, that's worth letting him finish on "good" terms.
... AwesomeClearly, you're talking about the sponsors at Navy and Marine Corps Stadium and you could not be further from the truth.

The same person or persons who hired the A.D. Which is/are?Who has the authority to fire the AD?
I agree. Next season will really tell. With 22 returning seniors and essentially a new AAC they should do well. If they don’t, it bodes poorly for the future.Having seen Army do something like this 20 years ago with Bob Sutton, I have a suspicion Navy will come to regret this decision. After Army fired Sutton, Army football went into the wilderness for 15 years (mirrored by the long losing streak). Of course there were other factors that led to Army's problems then. But Academy football does not have to worship at the altar of bowl games and conference championships.
Niumatalolo was a good man who cared deeply about his players and the Naval Academy. He deserved some degree more respect than was shown here at the end.
This is 100% how I feel, unfortunately, that is directly the opposite of the AD's stated goals. But Academy football does not have to worship at the altar of bowl games and conference championships.
This has been a MIDN rallying call as long as I have been at USNA.There are 2601 signatures on a change.org petition to “fire Chet Gladchuk.” People are still talking about how it was done.
Real question: do those petitions (I’ve also seen other ones to #FireChet circulating) do anything? One I saw recently, requested more transparency into NAAA. And accounting of monies (also ‘fire Chet). There are 2601 signatures on a change.org petition to “fire Chet Gladchuk.” People are still talking about how it was done.
