USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

My first post. I decided to make an account to help me cope with the wait for my DS's decision from USNA. I told my wife I feel like I'm suffering alone. DS is more pragmatic about this whole process. (ie, I did my best, if USNA doesn't want me, then it wasn't meant to be.) Therefore, it doesn't appear that he is suffering like me.

I can learn a thing or two from him! Anyways, DS told me two kids from his school already received appointments after receiving LOA's. They are both from our congressional district as well.

Does this mean, this does not look good for us? We did not have an LOA. DS's application has been CPR since January. The last item on the checklist was his transcript which was received mid-January. Obviously DODMERB was late due to their issues, so that was received by the Academy in mid-February.
Why are you suffering? I was worried, yes but also understood that this is his journey. Maybe your DS is playing down all this admissions thing in order to help you calm down. is it USNA talk 24:7? It can get overwhelming
What about plan B (C D E etc) is your DS happy with that? It is important and it is all that matters Put this into prayer, no for him to get admitted but for God to open the right door and close the rest. Have faith that all will work out as it should . Best of the best to yiur DS.

Is there any benefit to accepting an appointment prior to May 1st deadline, if you are still waiting on decisions from other top choice SAs.
There is not. If the deadline for one SA is 5/1 and you’re still waiting for a decision from another SA, then you should wait.

Some will say that waiting to make a decision is depriving another candidate of a spot. That’s simply not true. The SAs manage to a target yield — based on historical data — so one person declining an offer does not immediately result in another person receiving an offer. A candidate with offer of appointment has earned the right to use all the time they’ve been given to make the right decision.

Inspire - we are in the same boat. No LOA and everything complete in the system since Jan. It's "Still Pending Review" in the system so DS tells me. I feel your agony as this is the only school my son truly cares about. We're still optimistic about his chances but the waiting is a spirit killer, at times. The roller coaster of emotions is difficult. I joke about "Trusting the Process" because I would tell family members and friends, "They tell us to trust the process, but what happens if the process has us fighting as a family every night." (tongue in cheek of course) lol. The good part is that my son has some excellent Plan B and C options (still waiting on Plan B too though, haha!). Anyhow, I'm wishing you and your son the best. Go Navy!

Good Day Waiters and Speculators!
23 days to 4/15, when most will know their status.
98 Days to I Day

Any predictions on how far along admissions, noms and appointment committees are on class building? Do we think the majority of appts have been awarded or what percentage are left to come? It has been a little quiet on the appointment thread lately. Will there be a trickle or windfall of reported appts on SAF this week?

Cross-posted with Capt MJ. And my "is an appointment imminent" question I'll agree to the above responses.;)

For a little bit of fun….check out this thread, for last years class of parents waiting. And waiting. And waiting……

And note the dates.

And how loopy people get the closer to April 15th. And then April 15 comes and goes. And nothing.

It’s ALMOST the finish line, of a really long race. The final stretch 🏃🏻‍♀️ 🏃🏻‍♂️ 💨

The year my youngest accepted the waitlist, a group of us eventually moved to PM as the participants whittled down. Eventually it was me and another poster. Both of our sons made it in. He was the last one on the forums. June 22nd appointment for my friend! Lots of waitlisted posters that year.

We are friends IRL now!!

Oy! I can only imagine your nerves, patience and elation when the call arrived. I did a 24 hour fast prep for sleepaway camp when spots opened for my daughters years ago. Amazing experience for all but I'm still a little in awe that we made it happen. Completing the PTR in short time, you and your son should get a certificate.

I've just made reservations for DD's Plan B accepted student event. It's a tough one to put on the calendar and hard for her to be excited for, but here we are. Hoping for the best but prepping for all possible outcomes. Let's Go, Navy!!!

We're here holding out hope for Plan A (USNA) Plan B (NAPS) and Plan C (NROTC) because Plan D is not anyone's favorite choice. Hard to get excited about it when it's that far down the list. He hasn't even read anything Plan D has sent because it just seems so heartbreaking to think about none of the others working out. I am glad he HAS a Plan D firmly in place but it's hard watching his heart sink when he's worked so hard (like all of these kids have) for what he truly wanted. I'm so proud of him for pursuing such challenging dreams but also kind of excited that what my middle son has set his mind to is a little less stressful. LOL!

Same here for DD. Got the NROTC scholarship in hand with her first choice school. DD has said she will re-apply if she goes Plan C. From what I have read, the SAs like reapplicants esp if they join ROTC. Shows desire and commitment - and Don't Give Up the Ship attitude. Now she knows the ropes of the application process, so should be easier, too. Best of luck to ALL!

Sounds so familiar! If not for DD1’s passion for Plan A USNA, I’d be over the moon for her back up (s), these candidates hard earned and will leave some amazing opportunities on the table. Grateful that DD#2’s plan “should be” far less intense and stressful. Somehow though, life has a way of tossing a challenge or blessing right in the mix to open up space we didn’t realize we had. Or is that just me?!

You're singing my song! If there's an easy way to do something, I either don't see it or go out of my way to complicate it. LOL!! I think my candidate son comes by that honestly. Poor thing! My other 2 seem to have a much more firm grasp on reality.
