“The Fall” on PBS - good stuff - others to recommend?

Love this, we are addicted to British crime dramas. I got started with Foyle's War. Not sure if it is available anywhere but we loved it. Our other favs are already listed so no point going there.
When we told a friend about our addiction they recommended Peaky Blinders. It isn't bad, but I couldn't get into it and moved on to other stuff.

I’m currently watching “Professor T,” “Unforgotten,” and “Van Der Valk.” All enjoyable. Professor T has a quirkiness to it.

Seems like we watch many of the same shows. I just finished Season 4 of Unforgotten, but haven't moved to Annika yet. The same Nicola Walker was also in Bletchley Circle, which is set a few years post war, and has a similar one mystery per season feel as Unforgotten.

Inspector Lewis (since you mentioned Endevour).
Huge endorsement for Slow Horses.
Spies of Warsaw
Original Broadchurch was excellent (and several of the actors are now well known for other roles).
Rogue Heroes is more action than detective, but was very good.

If you are willing to watch with subtitles, the original Wallander is very good.
Occupation (more geo-pol and less crimi, but still hits some of the same vibes as the detective shows)
Tatort (each week rotated around different cities. We were very fond of the ones set in Koln (Cologne), though I'm stunned by how long ago they aired.)

Nicola Walker is a go-to in any crime drama. Annika is excellent. You’ve added a few to my list, and sub-titles are fine.

A series I thoroughly enjoyed was an Italian one with sub-titles, well done, all kinds of twists and turns, which left me wanting more, but there are only 2 seasons. “Thou Shalt Not Kill.” Ispettoressa Valeria Ferro is a treat.

Jack Ryan is back and all episodes are streaming now.
Demanding the suspension of disbelief by the boatload.

I particularly enjoyed the part, in season 2, when they are running around in the basement of the Kremlin. Season 3 was even more ridiculous.

For @WT Door I put in earbuds to watch this and tried not to look at sub-titles, trying to recapture my dusty fluent Italian. It’s the Torino area, so at least not one of the difficult dialects in the toe or the heel of the boot.

Not a crime drama, but a true story... "The Spy" on Netflix. I never thought much of Sacha Baron Cohen... in fact I rather disliked him. I have a whole new respect for this guy as an actor. Just finished it recently. I won't bore you with all the foreign subtitled stuff I watch but my Russian (mostly reading only) is improving as a result.

... so these are becoming a tradition in my family whenever we're together during holidays:

* A Christmas Story
** A Christmas Carol
*** Poirot
**** School of Rock
(If I'm by myself or get the eye rolling stare, Downton Abbey, Italian - Japanese Classics with subtitles.)

I see The Caine Mutiny Court Martial has been remade with Kiefer Sutherland in the starring role as everyone's favorite Captain-Streaming on Showtime & Paramount +
