2021- One month of CPR left!!!

We can do this! What is one more day to the several months that we have already been waiting (fyi it's nothing). I am sorry to hear of all of the TWE's sent yesterday and I look forward to hearing about the great things everyone does.
 
TWE late yesterday while on Spring Break on a vacation chosen for our DS because when we booked it we thought it could be our last vacation together as a family for a while should he be accepted. His father and I stayed up late last night heartbroken for him as we had watched him over the years preparing himself for the Naval Academy. All the while we insisted he visit other schools. He was willing and engaged, but each time he reported back that the schools fell short in his eyes. He'd set foot at a SA and proclaim that this is where he believed he belonged and where it felt right.

He had an amazing fortitude and set up mock interview panels of Academy grads from all branches to ensure he was ready for MOC interviews. He got 2 noms to Naval Academy, one from Sen. and 1 from Congressman. The only student to get 1 from both of them. He took the most difficult course loads at his school of IB amd AP and achieved top grades with nothing less than a small handuful of A-'s in all of HS. His ACT was a 33, his extra curriculars and sports were ones he was passionate about and luckily aligned extremely well with the types of clubs and sports he was told over and over again were ones that fit well against the types of things a SA looks for.

He was stoic, but admittedly a bit shocked. He is processing how to change a mindset that has been in place for years

He only selected a few Plan B schools ....pretty unenthusiastically. He was accepted to one and is waiting to hear from the other 2. He is kicking himself a bit that there aren't more Plan B choices . Changing gears will be rough.

I write this to encourage all parents and kids to listen skeptically to all those counselors, principals, teachers and former officers and grads professing and assuring their extreme confidence that your child will get in as you and your child will start to believe them. As far back as anyone can remember, only 1 student from our HS has ever applied (and was also accepted) to the Naval Academy.

Too soon to determine his Plan B. But, sincere thanks to everyone here who prepared me for the news and in turn will help me help him through this. Already his composure assures me that he is capable of taking setbacks gracefully and maturely.
We're re- grouping here and helping our son re-direct his path to continue to excel and thrive in a different environment.

One of my good friends got his email today saying he didn't get in but I have still yet to receive any word. He completed his application around 1-2 weeks before mine thought. (My application was completed in January 31st due to a CFA delay)

We have been CPR since September, so I don't think when you completed the application means much unless you got an LOA.

I agree. DS completed back in September and still CPR in MD.
 
My DS got the TWE last night, complete kick in the gut for him (and us too). He has acceptances at Penn State and RIT, waiting on Princeton, have not heard from NROTC (is that bad, does that mean more rejection?) We will mourn for a couple days, then work on firming Plan B. Maybe USNA class of 2022???

I'm in the same boat. Heard back from Plan B's. LMU is most likely the way to go for me. Still waiting on NROTC. I don't know what that means as well. But it's all about how we move forward with this. Best of luck

I received one as well. And believe me, I was in the mindset that I am going to USNA.I know I definitely gave it all I had and to see it fall short is heartbreaking. It's definitely tough but after talking to my summer seminar squad leader (he was denied his first try as well), it really put things into perspective. It's all about how you react to this moment. Some let it get to their heads and feel down for too long, others see this as a reason to put in even more work to make themselves better. He said that this in no way shows that you are a bad candidate, but it just shows how many people wanna get in. I wish your DS the best of luck. I'm def gonna try for Class of 2022

I am hoping DS tries for Class of 2022 too, but last night was not the time to talk about it. So maybe we will be at this again.?
 
I think the admission board meets again today
Also I think that several Ivy's and others are announcing decisions today. Then some final spot jockeying will occur.

2020 had a very small wait list because so many accepted the offer. This year who knows
 
Are there any spots left to be given out or will they all be TWE's at this point?
 
Another week of TWEs has gone by and we have lost some of our camarades, my heart goes to all of you with bad news. For those still CPR, continue praying to see those shining rocks and also brass for impact because based on my calculations next week will have another heavy blow on us still CPR.

this makes me scared for myself. i am sorry about your DS being denied. I am CPR currently and not even half as good as your DS. So for someone more than highly qualified and excelling, i can only imagine how secure his Plan B will be. Thank you for sharing your story.
 
Received a wait list email today, and I'm happy to see others with this situation getting such amazing advice. Don't know if I should be glad it wasn't a TWE or sad that my slim chances just became slimmer. I saw a quote on SAF earlier by Marie Curie and want to thank the person that put it there- you helped me to harden my resolve to accomplish my goals.
