I wonder what it the pressure must be like for the CO of pilot training. Given the mandate to graduate more pilots than last year must be constant and intense but the training aircraft are old (& breaking down more often), the civilian instructors are few, as are the IP's, etc...
The only way I can think of would be to push the students out in a lesser-qualified state & have the squadrons finish what used to be taught at UPT. Kicking the can down the road as the saying goes.
I view the Virtual Reality (see what I did there) training as a stop-gap measure at best.
On the other hand, if the CO could pull off an increased graduation rate-I'm thinking that would have to impress a promotion board.
