2028 State Nominations Thread

But she will always come back. Those hugs are the best, as you know from post-deployment experience. And you can go visit her in some great places.

As is often said here on SAF, “You taught them to fly. Now step back and watch them soar.”

I was an only child. My parents struggled a bit with me heading off to Navy OCS, then Rota, Spain, then Naples, Italy (didn’t go home to GA but once just under 6 years), then West Coast and HI. They began to love coming for visits. We had great adventures in Italia and España, and they got to watch their daughter drive in Roman traffic (Dad had his eyes closed), handle all logistics, show them the insider way to see the sights, etc. There will be visits to the SA for special events.
I like that saying. We are in the thick of it here with our 3-deg staying in CO for Thanksgiving and a senior waiting to hear about noms. When we were going through all of this 2 years ago, my best friend said, “Aren’t you glad that we are sad they are leaving. 1. We have great relationships with our kiddos which makes leaving hard. 2. They are ready to fly the nest and to succeed in the next phase of life. We should be happy to be in this position.” She was totally right! I doubt it will ever get easier, but they are ready.

Once all are well-launched, you get to soar as a life consultant on permanent retainer and retire from hands-on parenting of non-adults. .

She just received her email with the official notification letter. Nominations to 3 academies. Now to wait and see what happens!

Anybody received word from Rep. Buck (CO-4) or CO Senators? (Specifically for USAFA but curious overall for all of the SAs)
we are in CO - our candidate is not going for USAFA, but interviewed with our MOC (we are in a different district) and the senators' teams over the Thanksgiving week. No word yet about the actual nomination selection though.

I've done my senate interviews and Representative but haven't gotten any news on acceptances. I've been offered an appointment already through my Presidential nomination, so I'd be shocked if I got a nomination from either.

Good luck to you or your child!

From nomination interview (Dec 2nd) to notification of Nom should be about 10 days ? (California) . The staff in congress office said it's after Xmas o_O...

Do you know how many people were interviewed for Senator Butler's nomination?

Sure! We are in IL-09. It’s a new district - we were w/ Casten before & his team conducted interviews. But it looks like Schakowsky hasn’t in the past. When Durbin nominated our oldest, there weren’t any interviews. Good luck 🍀!
I am in IL-9 as well, got my nom from schakowsky to West Point last week

Congratulations 🎉! I know one other person who had a mystery nom show up (same district) so it must have been IL-09. In a previous email, IL-09 stated DS would also receive info via USPS. Maybe that will come this week 🤷🏻‍♀️? Good luck 🍀 to you!
