DS has called and emailed the IL Senators multiple times and has not received a response. The answer to the question is not found on their website either, so I'm hoping someone here has the information. Does Sen Durbin and Sen Duckworth want superscore test scores or best single sitting? Thanks in advance for any help.

Again this year I am starting a thread for individual state nomination questions. Please post all state nomination questions in this one thread. The moderation team has decided to use this method for the past several years because the forum gets bogged down by separate threads for each state. The threads quickly get pushed off the first page and then we get multiple threads started for a single state and it becomes quite a mess. Thank you.

anyone on this forum have insight on the nomination process for Georgia? DS
has submitted applications to both senators and his representative. (also for the vice presidential nomination.) He has an LOA for USMA. Right now he is just sitting tight waiting to hopefully hear about interviews. just curious about the timeline and also in general how hard it is get a nomination in Georgia.

It’s too bad they don’t say if they do or not. My guess is no as I feel like super scoring is limited to colleges. But I don’t think it would hurt to send multiple test date scores? We are sending our DS’s original because we are not 💯 sure his re-take in October will get to them in time. We’ll also send the Oct re-take - hoping it gets there in time/is better than first time. Good luck 🍀!

Regarding IL nominations for Durkin & Duckworth, I believe they do NOT do interviews. Is that correct? I couldn't find anything on their websites regarding it. DS has submitted all the applications/recommendations/essays for each, so we are in the wait and see mode.

I have read on the forums that they don't do interviews. I wish their web pages were more informative. Did your DS turn in a single sitting test score to them? My DS is trying to get nom apps turned in soon. He is waiting on a couple of LORs.

The last staffer DS talked to at Durbin's office said he didn't have an answer. He told him to include both. I think after hearing from other applicants he is going to turn in his best single sitting score in the form, but include his super score on his resume. Good luck on the SAT retakes. DS just got his Sept scores back. He raised his super score and eeked out 50 more points.

DS only submitted one ACT score for both.

That’s awesome! I know he would be thrilled w/ that 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻. Our oldest received a nom from Durbin but I can’t remember what he did for his SAT. It was during COVID so my guess is he only submitted one score. He got a second take in but it was so hard to take the SAT in IL we were happy w/ having one score (kids were literally traveling to different states to take it - it was a mess)….

Each MOC runs their own NOM process so what one chooses to do may be different from some other MOC. What they did last year may/may not be how they choose to run the current process. It is best to start with the website for your particular MOC regarding instructions for how to submit an application for this latest cycle. Some do interviews, others do not. I have seen some MOC's instructions indicate you can only submit your information one time and you cannot update it once submitted. That would imply to me that things like SAT/ACT scores, GPA or sports participation can't be updated/changed once submitted, so you want to make sure you application is complete when submitting.

All MOC have a deadline for submission of your application. If you miss that deadline, you won't be in the running for that MOC NOM in this latest cycle. However, racing to be the first to apply has no impact on the outcome. Those who conduct NOM interviews likely wait until the application deadline has passed to schedule those interviews. Someone at each MOC likely has the job to compile NOM applications and that is where I would start if you have a specific question NOT answered on their website. Likely their website also provides contact information (i.e. phone/email) for specific NOM related questions.

It’s been two years for us. I recall my cadet being notified of interviews in late fall and had an interview with his Rep in October and Senator later (maybe early December?) As far as difficulty, I think that depends on your district. From the Rep, I recall that he and his friends were all successful in getting a nomination. He was the only one that he knew of that received an interview with the Senator’s board.

Anyone know when MS MOCs turn in their nominations? Hyde Smith and Guest seem to have the earliest deadlines (end of October and mid-October respectively) but Guest's office doesn't interview till December. I know they aren't due till the end of December but do they all wait till the last minute?

Both of our senators have nomination app due dates of Sept 29, or rep is a little later. My DS was told to watch for interview requests Oct or later.

Anyone here have the email address where I can send a request to update the questionnaire information (post submission)? His Contact page does not have email address.

It took me all of two clicks to find a multitude of phone numbers on his website. Find the appropriate one, call his office directly and ask your question. Part of being a viable candidate is figuring these things out. Best wishes to you.

And there is a “write to him” link. Looks like a canned system. I would send it there and call.

Anyone hear anything from Rick Scott or Marco Rubio in FL yet? Scott’s interviews are supposed to be in Tampa on Oct 14th.
They may be busy, and focused on other things at the moment (potential shutdown).

WIth the sad news today of Sen. Feinstein's passing, I had a student ask about proceeding with the nomination application due on October 2. Point is that all California applicants should proceed as usual. Her appointed replacement will use the submitted information (and likely her current staff) to complete the process and make the appropriate nominations.

RIP Sen. Feinstein.

Btw, the deadline for Sen. Feinstein noms had been extended up to Oct 15 even prior to this happening.
