Oh gosh, I remember getting accepted into Summer Seminar and then thinking, "Hmm, about 2 weeks after I leave, the poor people who are actually going to be cadets are gonna arrive for BCT." And now I'm part of those poor people! So be thinking of all of us future cadets while you are enjoying a first-class experience at the Academy. And congratulations!

Awesome!!!! Big congrats to you. My advice to you is be sure to get the memorization sheet memorized as early in the week as possible, and be sure to go to bed in your PT gear the night before Doolie for a day.

But most importantly.....HAVE FUN!!!!

(Also play lots and lots of dodgeball!) :shake::shake::shake::shake:

It sure does fly...we're already going on 7 months since I day, and I remember the same feeling from before summer seminar/basic/etc. All you hear is about how fast it goes. Of course, these next two months are already dragging on...

Thanks for all the congratulations and *especially* the advice! I just accepted session A, so I'll be at the academy from June 3-7. I'll be sure to think of you 2013ers when I'm at SS. :thumb:

Yeah, and I'll probably be remembering what it was like to wake up at 10 am and not get yelled at all day

That is not necessary. Summer seminar, except for the mock CFA, was not that intense, though D for a D was intimidating. I don't think it would be as fun taking so many precautions.

My daughter did sleep in her clothes the night before so she would not have to bother getting dressed for the Thursday, Doolie for a Day wake up call. There was one person in the group that was late and my daughter's group was "punished" by having to do a partial push-up while chanting something like, "I will wait for my classmate, ma'm" That is hard to hold for a couple of minutes. Were you there for that PDub?

Congratulations on being accepted! Just remember to say "Yes Sir" to every cadet you pass during doolie for a day...good luck, and think of us while you're there.

Haha, yes weathermom... My element had to do the very same thing. "Sir we are waiting for our teammates!" *repeat until everyone is there*

You'll get very used to "Sir, we are waiting for our classmates" in the front leaning rest or with your feet at 6 inches during basic and the school year...

Yo hunter. I'm definitely glad that you got summer seminar. I really wish that everyone applying to the academy could go. I'm glad to see there are 3 sessions. I hope that means more acceptances and not the same amount (700) just split into 3 sessions instead of 2.

My only suggestion is to get that last sentence you wrote out of your mind. Be excited for summer seminar. Let it pump you up. Come back motivated and get your application completed before July 30th. Be eligible for "early acceptance"; either LOA or Direct Appointment. But in all of this remember 4 things.

1) Continue to work hard in school. Keep taking the hard classes like AP/IB.
2) Keep taking the SAT/ACT as many times as you can and practicing your CFA; aiming for the best.
3) Even if the Air Force is your #1 dream school in the world; and serving your country is your #1 goal in life; have a backup. If you're smart enough to get accepted to the Air Force academy, then you're smart enough to get accepted to more than 85% of ALL COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES in the country. Apply to NO LESS THAN 5 very good schools. 1 can be a safety State school. But you are applying to the Air Force Academy. The equivalence of an Ivy League School. You should be applying to similar schools. (Not necessarily Yale, Harvard, etc...; but there are hundreds of good schools). Apply first; worry about money later. You'd be surprised how many schools give scholarships and grants.
4) MOST IMPORTANT: You can QUIT a job and go back and find another. You can QUIT college and go back again later. You can QUIT or STOP a lot of things in your life and pick it up again later. YOU CAN NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES QUIT/STOP/CHANGE/ETC.... your high school years and experiences. IT CAN'T BE DONE. You go out there and make the most of it.

I know you're excited. That's good. Let it motivate you. But enjoy your senior year of high school. Don't think all about the academy that you let it pass you by. Do all the things you never would have done before. Get involved with an extra sport, club, school play, volunteer time, etc... Say hi and be extra nice to the kids in your senior class that you normally would never give the time of day to. Trust me on this one. Make the most of your senior year. I hope you LOVE summer seminar. I hope you apply and get accepted to the academy. I hope all your DREAMS COME TRUE. But what I'm trying to tell you is that "YOUR DREAMS START TODAY; THEY ARE IN FRONT OF YOU". If you keep thinking about TOMORROW; NEXT SUMMER; Etc.... Then your DREAMS become MEMORIES because they have past you. Then you can't do a damn thing about them. Best of luck to you. later... mike....

My son just got accepted as well. He is probably going to the last week
since he is going to Summer Leadership at West Point the first week. This is causing a problem with his exams since school is in session until the 23rd of June. When do most high schools end their school year?

My school year started on Sept. 1 and ends on June 5. When did your son's school year start?
