I'm a high school senior and I have an AFROTC interview later this week with my local detachment commander. Does anybody have any advice for the interview? I read on another thread that someone had advice for a Type 1 and 2 scholarship? Is there something special I should do to increase my chances of receiving one of these scholarships?

I wish you luck! My dd will have her AFROTC interview this week as well.
My advice to all young adults interview for anything is the following: Dress appropriately, strong hand shake, good eye contact, sit/stand tall, have some questioned prepared, show up early and be yourself.

Show confidence but not cockiness.
Be thoughtful with your answers without saying umm
Dress smartly and don’t slouch
Knowledge of current events
Have your own sincere answers to questions about why you wish to serve, why you wish to attend an SA, etc..
Arrive 15 minutes early

It’s ok to pause quietly while you form your answer.

It’s also ok to need a minute to think about the question.

Firm (dry) handshake, eye contact, humbleness and gratitude.

Brush your teeth, and don't be robotic, be your best authentic self.

Palm a one dollar bill and pass it off to the interviewer when you shake their hand. Wink at him/ her/ them, say "I hope Mr. Washington will make sure we have a good interview.", then take your seat.

Just kidding - above advice from others is great - you got this!

Turn off your cell phone...Unless the ring tone is "Off We Go Into the Wild Blue Yonder", in which case you should arrange to have somebody call during the interview.
