AF ROTC Enrollment Allocation Results

What exactly is the bag drag? Thank you! And is the paperwork "other than" DodMERB? Just curious as I am not a cadet, I'm a mom.

You will be signing this form as a current POC... I am pretty sure refusing to sign the form will get you thrown out!

Im not sure it would be that easy/simple. Requiring someone to sign an'informational form that actually modifies a contract doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Is AFROTC going to toss someone out of the program after paying three years of tuition? Throw them out and require reimbursement because they refused to sign an informational form?

Again, not something my daughter is considering, and not something I would recommend, but an interesting question at least for me.

Can anyone else confirm that Cadre are saying Thursday-ish? Our cadre today sounded as they have absolutely no idea.

Yeah, for us if our EAs come out Thursday we have three weeks of school left... >_<

Drexel,

It would appear that backstreet's det may have only sent the mass email after 2 or 3, thus why your det may not have said anything at PT and LLAB. The cadre may have not received the list until this afternoon.

They may inform you all tomorrow for the Thursday release date. It really is getting down to the wire now. If it is done by the end of this week, and release next week, there will be cadets 2 weeks out before going into finals. Thursday for some dets is still going to be a hard push to get the bag drag and medical paperwork done.

This is true, although one of the cadre just emailed me about another topic about an hour ago and didn't mention anything. Contemplating asking him about this rumor in my reply email lol

I'm lucky that since I go to Drexel we already had finals and I'm on coop (internship) now for the rest of the summer.

Our cadre also said he had no clue as well. He said he feels our pain and will come in on a Saturday to tell us if he has to. If the word got sent out this afternoon, that'd be awesome. He was in a lot better mood at PT which is at 3:30 for us.

No word from our cadre this morning or this afternoon either. Really hope its thursday, especially for you guys finishing up classes so soon.

3:30?!

We don't have to be there until 5:30. Lol. 3:30 would be ROUGH

vamom,

A bag drag is they have to get all of the supplies required for SFT. It ranges from X amt of socks with their last initial and last 4 SS to sunscreen to the number of blue pens and binders.

They give them the luggage, which is a duffle bag...aka bag. The cadets are told to get the entire list completed by a certain date and bring it into the det...aka drag it in because it weighs a lot.

They dump out the bag, and go through the checklist. They get a grade for this.

I am not positive if that goes into their SFT score, but it is important on the det level.

Somewhere in these 20+ pages, I placed the list, from my memory. It is about 15 things. For example. They need white and camo tees, white and camo socks. Specific size binders, in blue and a specific number.

The laundry pen was the 1 I had a hard time finding. In the end I bought a permanent black sharpie.

They use the pen to place on all of their laundry...socks, tees, underwear their 1st initial of their last name with their last 4 of their SS.

They tell the cadets to buy either moleskin or something else (for marching). Buy the moleskin. We got it at CVS.

Regarding release. It appears there are multiple dets now saying Thursday. This is the 1st time this has occurred. By releasing the info on Thursday they give the cadets the weekend to buy everything.

Understand this is an expensive list...expect to spend @200 bucks, razors, pens, binders, looseleaf paper, sunblock, socks, tees, ziplock baggies add up very quickly.

OBTW they bring that bag home with them and it sits in your house until they leave for SFT.

All the stuff we need for the bag drag is in our FTM (Field Training Manual's) as well.

Pima what other det's did you hear the Thursday date? I thought it was just the one. I'm waiting to hear back from my Captain now who emailed me earlier about something unrelated and in my reply I asked him about Thursday.

...assuming you meant 0330...if you meant 1530 then you lucky SOB

I think what he meant was that they had PT at 1530 and his CoC was in a better mood than in the morning for LLAB because he found out about the Thursday date but didn't say anything at PT. So he's inferring from his good mood something may have happened..

I purely only mentioned the change of ROTC command as some insight I gathered over the weekend :) Was just a small tip. Warrior Knowledge like that should be cake at this point.

Looking forward to the hopeful Thursday announcements!!

Pima, thank you as ALWAYS! Just when I figure out once stage, another one comes along and hits me upside the head! I do have another question.....when DS completed his Dodmerb, I want to say that it was possibly over 24 months ago (thinking it was Dec/Jan of his sr year in HS). Doesn't that have to be repeated every 24 months? If so, and he gets EA, I'm thinking it could be close if he has to "redo" Dodmerb. I wonder if he should talk to his DET and ask about that. I try not to get involved ..... just learn and observe from this site but this might be a time when I need to make a phone call to him and ask about this. What do you think, Pima? He contracted in 4/2012 if that makes a difference and is on scholarship.

Also, his DET has given no day/date for them to expect to hear about EA. But he thinks it will be "this week". But he thought that last week, haha. Good luck to all of you young men and women who are waiting nervously for this announcement. Parents, too.

Yeah, exactly. Thanks for clarifying. We have the option of going at 0600 or 1530. OR 0630 for the new SPEC OPS PT. We got a CRO come in to fill a missing spot in the cadre.

My DS had his DODMERB physical summer before his senior year (2009) as AFA candidate. He was only required to update paperwork before SFT last summer (2012), he did not need to do the complete the physical again.

Haha my Det is the same. Either 0600 on Tuesday and Thursday or 1530 on Monday and Wednesday. Unless you're FTP of course! No news on EAs from my Det either!l
