AFROTC EA due date

they will let you know when HQ says drop the names. That being said the cadre usually finds out the night before the release date.

One thing to think about is many of you are assuming they will allow you to become a 500. During the years of 55%, most were NOT offered a 500 slot. Our DS had close to 50 go up for SFT. 26 went to SFT, out of the 24 not selected only 2 or 3 were offered a 500 slot.

SFT is not just about training, it is also about Big Blue's MPC staying on target for their manpower needs in 2016. If they have too many attending SFT and graduating than they are going to be in the exact same position with doing a RIF board for those that are commissioning this year.
~~~ If they undershoot the number of SFT cadets, they can always get their target O1 commissions by accepting more via OCS....and cheaper to boot too.
Just saying, it is to your best advantage right now to have plan B in place especially if they are only going to send 55% or less to SFT.
I would add that committing to your plan B right now really decreases your stress in waiting for EAs. I'm looking for internships and summer jobs right now and EAs are no longer much of a stress. Sure I am waiting for the results but I'm doing what I can to make sure that if I don't get in that my plan B will be up and running. For me the stress was just uncertainty in my future. For now I'm acting as if I am not getting an EA since I can always push aside my plan B if I do get an EA. IMHO it would be harder to start your plan B later if you continue to just sit and wait for EAs.
The stress right now is on us cadets the most. Sure Cadre feel just as stressed for us, but in the end its on us cadets. We have to sit day in and day out, thinking what will become of our future in AFROTC? Will we get that EA or not? Are we able to come back as a 500 cadet? This is a lot for us cadets to put up with, especially with finals week coming up in 2 weeks. (end rant)
Does anybody think there is a real chance we will find out today? Anybody have a gut feeling?
We were told at LLAB today that it should be this week (we were also told this last week). They do not have the results yet. Fingers crossed that the speculation is not true and we see numbers like last year.
THANK YOU ALPHA - Being "just a mom" with absolutely no military or ROTC experience myself makes it hard for me to compose posts that cadets can relate to.
Your post exemplified the point that I was trying to make. You are making the effort to be well prepared if that perfect plan crumbles. I really hope that you find yourself pushing aside that plan B an spend 3 weeks this summer getting yelled out in the sweltering heat!
:smile:
I dunno about sweltering heat lol we are having one of the coldest Aprils on record. It might be a nice summer.
Woah I just checked the weather there and it is 10 degrees cooler there than here in MA haha :)
So who wants to be hopeful that tomorrow will be the day?! With a class of 66, we are all starting to get restless knowing that some of our buddies won't make the cut.
My bet is YES.
Many colleges will start going into finals the week after next. Thus, the dets will be closing up shop starting next week.
I know you guys are getting restless, but remember the cadre is just as restless since they need to get orders processed before you all boogie off campus. On top of it they are finalizing commissioning plans, EADs for those cadets, orders for WPAFB rated 300 FC1 physicals and TS clearance paperwork.
~~~ Don't forget the Cadre will also probably be losing a member since it is PCS season, AND if any of them are up for promotion, they are writing PRFs, plus OPR/EPR.

That doesn't include planning orientation for the class of 18, finalizing those numbers, fielding phone calls from excited/anxious incoming cadets on how this all works, be it scholarship or not.

Nor does it include the RIF board for 14 grads....which has been incredibly silent....anyone know if they got enough 14s to submit release paperwork, or if those results were released if they didn't.

This is of course on top of how to keep the morale level up with the 200/250/500s during this stressful time.

Trust me, your CoC wished this list dropped 6-9 weeks ago, probably more than you. Hard to believe, but it is true.

I am not trying to be inconsiderate, I am trying to say both sides of the fence in the dets want that list just as bad.

I know for my det, we are losing 2 NCOs and 3 officers to retirements and PCS so there is a lot of change over that is happening there.

They did not nearly get enough FY 14 grads to voluntarily leave, so who knows what is happening with that at this point.

Our det has already said that Max 1 and 2 get priority over everything (which makes sense), have a QFR date set regardless of EA drop date, and will have staggered bag drags. With such a large class, there are some logistical nightmares about to come down on us once EAs come out, but our cadre and POC have been bracing for it all year and we are just waiting for the list.

I have word from a few different sources that today might be the day plus my Col. canceled class which was weird but he said he would be discrete if someone didn't get an EA so based on everything I have a hunch that today is the day. Good luck everybody and may the odds be ever in your favor.

I think you're right. Best of luck to YOU too!

:biggrin:

Still no word about ea's at our det this morning. I'm starting to lean towards next week now.

Maybe they are waiting until noon eastern to release...?
