AFROTC EA due date

DD got a slot! So, happy. She is a nursing major with a 4.0 GPA. Her det. had a 71% selection rate.

Just a question since my math is a bit rusty, you said you weren't selected in 2012, such would have been the end of your sophomore year. If you joined AROTC the start of your junior year wouldn't you be A senior now. My math must be off because you said your now a 2LT. Just curious is all, thanks.

Sancontoa could have been an end of camp commissionee...

The wait is over!

Proud to say I got a slot!!

I worked my tail off for the last two years... Good luck to the rest still waiting.

I am non-tech rated.

Our cadre isn't telling us till Thursday (HOPEFULLY, it's not set in stone). I'm so sick to my stomach I can barely eat. It's going to be a long 50 hours for me and my wingmen...

Our rate was 100% last year until one cadet got his retracted - apparently they gave out too many. And some others got medically DQ'd. So 100% didn't go.

I can't believe they retracted it - it's like being promoted - once you've got your rank on - that's it - no retractions...

I was not picked up with the following:

Non tech/non rated
CGPA: 3.7
PFA: 96.7
Top half commanders ranking

It is of my utmost disappoint to have not been selected. I chose to study at college solely for the reason of Air Force ROTC. It is something I have been interested in since doing a "when I grow up project" in middle school. Despite the circumstances of today, I honestly couldn't have chosen a better choice. I had the privilege to able to meet some of the greatest people I have ever met while in the program and it has changed me into the person I am today.

I have not completely made up my mind as to what I what I will choose to do. I wish to continue my family's legacy of serving in the United States Air Force. Both my father and grandfather served 20 years enlisted and it was of my aspirations to continue what tradition had been laid before me, however to be the first one to receive a commission. I will definitely spend the next couple days considering what options I have to choose from. Regardless of what happens, I am in hopes if being able to receive my silver dollar salute from my father.

Don't give up. Where there's a will there's a way - don't forget that. You finish school and go OTS or lateral into another service, or enlist and go officer from the ranks - My dad did that. This was just a bad year - keep trying. I wish you the very best.

Romad.

Terrible Day - feel helpless

My DS just called me, he did not get a spot. He is at one of top Det's in the nation, last year they placed 100%, this year 50%. He was top 5 in his class. Shocked, crushed, words can't even describe his, and our feelings right now. I congratulate all those who got chosen.
This seems to be the class (HS grads of 2012) that is getting the short end of the AF stick. AFA had historically low appointments 2 years ago, and now this. All of you who did not get a spot, keep your heads up, I am sure you are wonderful people, keep your sights set high, you'll be OK.

The best to you and your son. It really has been a tough year for a lot of very fine cadets. Is there any chance of a 250 slot?

Romad, I am sure my DS knows what a 250 slot is, but I am not sure I do. Is that where he would 'redo' his 200 year next year and try again? He mentioned that in our phone call, but I was in consolation mode and not problem solving mode. He is absolutely shocked right now.
Thanks

Sure he is - my son is actually in the same boat in a way - he's a 5 year program techie who will see all of his fellow classmates grad a year before him and get out into Big Blue leaving him there alone. The question I have is: How badly does he want to be an Air Force Officer? If he is given an opportunity to be a 250 - it will hurt a little in terms of pride and ego but pay off in terms of possible results. Which is more important? I actually think someone who comes back with grim determination and goes through the 250 year again is demonstrating to all what his or her resolve is.

Good Luck to you both!

Thanks, he wants it pretty bad, that I am sure of. His only solitude of not getting an appointment to the AFA was that he got an AFROTC scholarship, and now this. It is just so hard to imagine. Time will tell, he's a great kid, we love him, and he will prevail.

Maybe this will give people that haven't found out yet a little hope. I have a 3.04 gpa, a 94.8 pfa score, I'm a non tech major and non rated. I just got word that I got a slot for this summer, that should show how much the commanders ranking counts and if you are a good leader then your commander has noticed.

Thanks a lot. I am new to this site, and have a lot to learn. Very helpful. I am just trying to get smarter so when my DS comes home after finals we can help him figure out his next step. Appreciate the info.
