Hello, so I just found out about the Academy and was wondering how the age requirements worked. I am twenty two with one semester of community college, can you seriously not get in if your not already a freshman by your 22nd birthday? I could totally understand the 26 yr old scenario and being so much older than classmates but I can’t imagine the wasted possible talent for people who didn’t know about these academy options sooner. Please help! Thank you.

My ds is an the same situation age wise. He cannot reapply due to age. He still has a dream of attending an AFROTC program but there seem to be no scholarship paths from a community college.

See above post. You can’t be older than 23 when you report or younger than 17.

No wasted talent - for someone who truly wants to serve, has the talent and meets medical and other qualification standards, there are other paths to the goal of serving as a military officer.
