WelcomeThat would be awesome! Thank you so much!
If you aspire to attend a Service Academy, I would definitely work on your Math and Chemistry skills. Hire a tutor or have another student/friend tutor you if needed. You will have to be strong in both these to succeed at any of the SAs. They are all STEM based schools, even if you plan on majoring in English or History, you will still be required to to take a significant amount math and sciences courses.I already took the 2 years of language, I just wasn't sure if most candidates continue their language all 4 years. My math is not my forte but I will definitely push for Calc senior year. Chemistry is extremely arduous for me. It feels like i toil aimlessly when i study for chem. Any tips for chem?
*wipes for head*alexander and bailey, you do realize, right, that you will take the dreaded Chemistry 215, all kinds of MATH, several engineering courses, blah blah blah...
They don't call it "the Little Engineering College in the Rockies" because they excel at horticulture.
Now, Alexander, PLEASE! Go change your screen name. Thank you from a concerned (and knowledgeable) mother.
It'll be hard but I have faith !Lol I won't lie, I've grown up an English nerd. Math and science were never my favorites, but I've always done reasonably well in them. It WILL be a challenge, but I think I can handle it haha!
I've learned that it just takes a LOT of hard work to succeed. I won't be the smartest person there, but I am willing to work as hard as I have to to graduate from USAFA! It's my dream and I'm not about to let even Calculus stop me from fulfilling that goal!
Lol you have my undying respect! I am currently in AP Calc and it's killer! I think part of it is that I am trying to learn it in online school....I'm hoping that being in an actual classroom environment would help me learn it better!Having taken Calc I,II, III and differential equations/linear algebra from a 4 year university I promise you that Calculus isn't as bad as it seems!
What if we score really low on the placement tests? Do we automatically go on probation?
Nope. They might put you in a remedial Calc 1 course, but it definitely won't put you on probation. Only your midterm (prog) and final grades can do that.
Thanks, haha. The hardest parts of AP Calc for me were the concepts. I can't imagine trying to learn them online, so good for you!
Awesome! Thanks for the info! Of course I hope to do well on the tests, but I am worried that I may not! And what kind of grades put you on probation? C's?
