As depicted in the title, I have green check marks for every portion of the application to include medical and a singular nomination source -for now- from my JROTC Program. At this point, is there anything to do for submission, or am I playing the waiting game?

Please reassure us you are applying for VP, two Senators and Representative noms? The SAs recommend applying for every nom for which you qualify, to maximize your “bites at the apple.” I hope that is what the “for now” means. I write with SAF “lurkers” in mind, because I know they are out there soaking these questions up.

Assume you are also working in your alternative plans.

If you have submitted everything possible, yes, you are waiting, possibly for months.

Meanwhile, as @Capt MJ mentions, make sure you have solid Plan B, C, D, etc., in place. If you're truly committed to serving as a commissioned officer, there are other equally good -- just different -- paths to get there. Then, rather than checking your portal every hour of every day, spend meaningful time with your family and friends. The time left at home will go by faster than you realize.

Thank you gentlemen, yes, I have already submitted my applications to both my senators, my congressman, and the VP. In addition, I have completed my applications to The Citadel and VMI as my plan B and C. Thank you for your advice. I cant wait.

What? No Virginia Tech? No University of North Georgia? No Big State U? Make sure your horizons are sufficiently broad. If they are, then you're fine. If not, you now have some additional suggestions that at least bear some level of investigation.

Thank you guys, yes I have already pursued the scholarship application, my final interview is coming up, In looking to apply it the ths SMC's mentioned above. Also schools apart of the Hoya Battalion such as American University. It sounds like I'm in good shape. Thank you once again.

Have you planned for the contingency of not getting into SA, getting into SMCs or American for crosstown Georgetown AROTC but not getting a ROTC scholarship right away? Can you afford those schools without the ROTC support? That’s one of the reasons people apply to in-state public universities, to cover that risk factor.

And, glad you are raising good questions, because the discussion is useful to all, but keep in mind many posters here are not gentlemen.

Yes, while the tuition will be painful for the 1st year or so, I can afford it through financial aid opportunities (FASHA) and through In School Scholarships. With lack of an ROTC Scholarship prior to attendance, I will then pursue the remaining three years of tuition through ROTC in battalion scholarships.

Thank you.

You're counting your chickens before they hatch relying on that three year. What's your plan when you start sophomore year and don't have a ROTC scholarship? I think Capt MJ's well expressed point is what will you do if you cannot obtain a scholarship for all 4 years? Just food for thought. You are always welcome to count your chickens before they hatch if that's your preference.

For example, what happens if you are (or become via injury) medically DQ’ed? And you are on for tuition. It happens, I read it here every year. Can you afford it if you cannot participate in ROTC? A contingency to consider.

You can continue to improve the competitiveness of your application. Unless you have already scored at or near maximum points on your standardized tests, you should be practicing and retaking the ACT or SAT.
Prepare for your MOC interviews and do some mock interviews. Those are extremely important! Get your suit dry cleaned, shine your shoes, get a good haircut. Work hard in school and increase your gpa. Workout.
Enjoy the rest of high school.

Mock interviews are very helpful. We had a school principal, company CEO, and a friend hookef us up with a retired navy major. They came and peppered my ds with possible questions MOC may ask. DS said it took away anxiety when the real deal came around.

Is your name actually @BobSanderz or Robert Sanders? If it is, you might ask a moderator to help you change it to something more anonymous.
If everything is done--and you are satisfied that you have sent your best possible SAT or ACT score, you might just continue to work out and get good grades and enjoy this last year of high school and the time you have left with your family, while you wait for good news to roll in on admissions and scholarships and appointments. It is a long game.

Hi, @DrMom, from posts I’ve seen over the last few months, I believe mods no longer take requests to change screen names. It had become an administrative burden. The current recommendation is to create a new account and abandon the other, as I understand it.

I agree it’s not a good idea to have a name too openly a real one.
