Hello my name is **REMOVED** and I’m an up coming senior from Florida. I submitted my summer seminar/ preliminary application in January and received word that I didn’t make it in April. In the email it stated that I would be told if I made it or not to be able further the application process by mid May but I have heard nothing back from them. Anyone know of anything that would help?

If you haven't received an ECandidate packet letter (which informs you that you are an "Official Candidate for the U.S Naval Academy Class of 2023") by now, then the odds are slim at this point.
You should check your SPAM or junk mail folders for anything that may have come from Admission@USNA.edu, just in case.

If your ultimate goal is to be commissioned as an officer in the Navy or Marine Corps however, you should also consider applying to a college with a Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) program.
With an NROTC college scholarship, you can still qualify for some or all of your college costs to be paid for, in return for active duty service in the Navy or Marine Corps after graduation.
The University of Florida (<--link - for example) has a fine NROTC program.

I suggest also to ask an Admin to change your member name to something that isn't your real name.

Thank you for the advice. The last email I received was notifying me of not getting into summer seminar. The email also stated I would be receiving another email containing instructions on completing the application since the application for Summer Seminar was just a preliminary application. I’ve checked my spam email already and nothing. I called at the end of May and updated my High School info since I will be attending a different High School for my senior year. I’ve tried calling the academy last week and today with no success.

Thank you

The application for the Naval Academy Summer Seminar (NASS) is in fact the "preliminary application". If you are selected as an "Official Candidate", then much of the information that you entered into this preliminary application migrates to your "official application". That part is automatic. The "ECandidate Packet Letter" then gives you information as to how to access this official application.

Not being selected as an official candidate is not the end of the world (I know, easy for me to say), but there are many paths available to you for ascension into the role of Naval or Marine Corps Officer, if that's ultimately what you want to do.
We all wish you the best!

Did you send official ACT or SAT scores? Son 3 had issues getting his ACT scores loaded to the portal even with above average scores. Don’t lose hope! Make sure the scores were received. Wishing you well.

Continue to update your information on the prelim application, and continue with the Nomination application process with your Members of Congress (2 Senators, 1 Representative). If you get a nomination prior to application deadline, they will open up the rest of the application process to you, if they haven't done so already. Retake the SATs/ACTs and get those scores up and always have scores sent to USNA. Keep trying to contact admissions and find out why you are not being promoted to "candidate" status, so you know your weak points and what you need to work on. Don't give up the ship!

I was just coming on here to update. I finally got through to someone at the Academy and that is exactly what happened. I was told I will receive my application link as soon as they receive my official ACT and SAT scores. Thank you everyone for the great info and advice.

For others in the same position, you can contact your BGO. He/she will know whether or not you're an official candidate. If not, you can discuss with your BGO what might be keeping you from being one (usually SAT/ACT scores). If you don't know who your BGO is, check with your school career counselor or contact your Area Coordinator (contact info in the USNA admissions manual available on line).

One of the mods can change your screen name, never use your real name on any forum and avoid posting information that is too specific to you. Good advice for ANYONE who participates here.
