In my last post I discussed how I initially was only going to apply to USNA and indicated that on nominations. (Received noms to USNA early dec), but by then decided Army is more down my alley.
Unfortunately though, there are no more slots for USMA bc my district is so competitive. What can I do if USMA became my first choice now? Do you recommend ROTC or civil prep school and reapply?

Read all the info for re-applicants on USMA’s official site. Also the same info tabbed here on the forums. ROTC is great bc you will have an additional nom source. But there is lots to consider, and all options have pluses and negatives. But there is a lot of good info around to help with your decision.

Thank you; doing that. Is there anything else I can do to receive an appointment for this year?

Have you applied VP nom? If you file is considered strong and USMA really wants you, they have sup/vp nom at their discretion to use.
Yes. My file is strong in all areas except I have a poor ACT score. I read they only choose VP noms for top test scores/GPA and LOA students. Is this accurate?

I dont have first hand knowledge of how the decision is made for VP. You do know that ACT/SAT carries the most wt in a candidate app.

VP is used at the discretion of each SA, specifically for people who don’t have a nom, that the SA wants to appoint. Not necessarily top GPA/test scores. Or LOA’s. So no, that is not accurate.

I also just realized that bc I got a nom I had to confirm “I intend to accept the appointment”. If I get accepted, am I now bound to attending USNA 2025? (Wanting to go USMA 2026)

No. It's not legally binding. They can't make you go, and why would they?
