I received a congressional nomination in the mail today and can see it in my portal; I'm absolutely stoked! Does anyone know roughly how long it takes before admissions will notify me with their decision concerning an appointment? I also have an LOE: does this make their decision quicker? Thanks!

Congrats on getting a nom, one more thing out of way.
Are you 3Q? If yes, then you may get a letter in your portal that you are being placed in NWL. It's just a list where the candidates are placed before they are evaluated for appointment.

As such there is no timeline, anytime between now and April 30. In some cases even after April 30. You have done what you could do so far, now time to tend to plan B.

LOE won't make their decision on your app quicker, however I think you having one is in itself a good sign. I also received one in like September. Congrats on the nom!

I did receive a letter saying I was fully qualified, if that is what you mean by 3Q. Thanks for the help!

Yes
congrats, now the wait begins. For some it is few days to weeks and for some couple of months.

You will know by 1 May. Literally, the admissions pages says they 'no longer do rolling admissions', but really, it is rolling admissions with new appointments being offered each week until 1 May. (You will know by 1 May...but even then there is a small chance that a TWE will inexplicably convert to a BFE...but don't count on it.)

So I have a question. Does everyone get a letter that they are 3Q? My DoDMERB was approved, I qualified in my CFA, I have two Noms. I have a good ACT. I did my application to the best of my abilities. Everything is checked off on my portal. But I have not received a letter telling me I was 3Q. Several other people that I know who are also applying to USNA, have not received this letter either.

Not everyone gets the 3Q letter. This time of year Admissions really gets rolling...so you submitted your stuff, your portal circles are green, you are in the thick of it now. Again, this is a hard time of year--and only gets harder as we move toward 1 May. There is no way to read the tea leaves. So, keep faith. Make an excellent other plan that you would like to live...and enjoy this last semester of high school and time at home with your family and friends. Irrespective of the USMA admissions outcome, you will be living a different life this time next year. Good luck. Keep Faith.

I think USMA sends the 3Q letter but not USNA. Could be wrong though!
