I wish him luck. I was surprised that DS's slate was resolved so quickly. DS is still waiting on USAFA to make any decisions. He is very patient, I'm not so much only because I'd like to know which direction we're heading this summer to drop him off. I keep telling him that USMA is better for our summer schedule (even though I'm TEAM USAFA) but he doesn't think he'll base his decision on my summer. LOL. Time will tell if there is a decision to make.

Something great just happened for my DS, his portal has the following green message "CONGRATULATIONS!You have been offered Admission to West Point!". I can see a few new forms on his overview page, however, we can't find any official appointment letter with DS name on it. It this normal, am I am missing something? any insight will be much appreciated. So excited!!!

It isn’t a mistake. Sometimes it happens that way and the paperwork catches up to it. Congratulations!!!

For any lurkers, sometimes the BFE shows up on the doorstep without any notification in the portal or from your Congressman and the thought is, "Maybe this is a mistake" until the portal catches up.

That’s what happened to my DD. Her SAT scores barely touched the minimum so we assumed it would not happen. There it was in the mailbox. This big black and gold envelope and that was in January when they released their first batch if 500 offers.

My 1st cadet had an LOA first week of September by mail--and we were as far away from NY as geographically possible. The most recent cadet had the BFE show up on the doorstep on a rainy Saturday the last week of April. You just don't know--but everyone will know by 1 May.

I got an email from West Point telling me to get vaccinated. This normally wouldn’t seem unusual, but the email’s wording made it seem like I was offered an appointment (I checked on my candidate portal and there’s nothing mentioning an appointment)… Can somebody please tell me if this is an error or a very unconventional acceptance letter?

“On February 2, 2022 the Department of the Army released Army Directive 2022-02. This directive includes a requirement that all candidates seeking to gain admission to the United States Military Academy (USMA) must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to signing USMA Form 5-50 (Oath of Office) unless they have an approved pre-accession medical or administrative exemption (to include religious accommodation).

Your Instructions for Applicants Offered Admissions booklet in your Candidate Portal has been updated to reflect this requirement.

If you accept your offer of admission to West Point, you must complete the COVID vaccination series no later than June 13, 2022 to ensure you are fully vaccinated prior to R-Day. You are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after completion of the final dose of the respective vaccine. An update to your admit kit will remove the COVID test survey and you will be required to complete the COVID vaccination survey no later than June 14, 2022.”
My son got a similar email from Air Force Academy Admissions today, so I'm thinking it is just a formality to all candidates to SA's.

He forwarded me the email and asked what i thought, because just like you he also questioned if it was an "unconventional acceptance letter."

His email said:

Dear Candidate,
Many have inquired about the requirements for the COVID-19 vaccination for those who may be appointed to the Air Force Academy. Please be aware that DOD policy currently requires that all service members be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. However, service members do have the option to apply for a medical, administrative or religious exemption.

Arrival instructions regarding COVID-19 vaccination status for the Class of 26 will be available when they are established. As USAFA develops the Appointee arrival instructions, we encourage each of you to get vaccinated for COVID-19, to include the booster if able.

I also got this email from USAFA, but not from USMA. So I am not sure what that means

Same here. You are admitted! Congrats! Watch for the BFE!

I have a question about this 3Q thing. I know my son is medically qualified and his CFA is qualified but where do i find he's academically qualified? All i see are green checks everywhere.

My ds was sent a letter stating that he was academic qualified. His came in the form of a 2Q letter because his medical wasn't finished yet. Others have gotten a 3Q letter if medical has already cleared.

My DS received this same email a week before his portal indicated his appointment. I hope this holds the same for you.
