Are CFA Standards the same throughout the Service Academies?

When I went to the Naval Academy summer seminar I took a CFA and passed it. My naval academy application is finished and submitted.

For my West Point Application I have the opportunity to request the CFA scores from the Naval Academy. Since I passed the CFA for the Naval Academy is that also a pass for West Point's standards?

Should I request the scores or should I just take it again?

Our DS sent his CFA scores to his USNA admissions counselor, she said they looked great, upload them. He did the same for USMA, she said, improve the mile and get one more pull up and push up as a cushion, they review EVERY video and will discount any that don't make form. So, he is retraining for CFA for USMA and USAFA (higher averages published). Also, since WP advised him you can not formally resubmit a CFA (unlike Navy which will allow you to request it be deleted so you can upload and improved test) he wanted to make sure he improved. Good luck to you!

You can submit the scores, but make sure you make the videos and submit for push-ups and pull-ups. There is always an opportunity to improve if you did not max the scores.

Just to clarify, the USMA Cfa can not be taken again like it can be for Navy?

If I request them from the Naval Academy I won't have any videos since I took it at the academy.

DON'T take my word for it. I can only speak for what our DS learned from his admissions counselor. To confirm, I would suggest you email your counselor and get the info direct from them. Always prudent. This forum gives great advice but make sure you get your final word from the source you are applying to. :)

And the videos have to be done. Look at your instructions, they give explicit info on what video requirements are. And they posted a video link to watch what it needs to look like. Super important.

The OP did not ask about USAFA but to answer the title thread about "are the CFA standards the same throughout the service academies?" - I have learned from both the forum and the original source that USAFA has significantly higher averages or what they call "goals" for the CFA than USMA. Without looking it back up again, I think I remember the max's for USAFA are also higher. We have no way of knowing if the "pass scores" are higher or not without running a set of individual scores by each admissions office.

USMA wants their own data. Thus the video format.

Out of curiosity, what's the point of having the ability to request scores from other academies?
Let's say you had maxed all categories, then it would be worth having USNA send your scores to USMMA and USAFA. BUT, since video is required for WP you would need to do that independently.

The Max in every category is the same for USMA & USAFA (see links posted below). I highly doubt there is any glaring difference in averages across the three academies.

DS asked his admissions counselor at USNA to send his CFA scores to USMA, which she did via email. Those scores were uploaded to the USMA website the same day they were sent. For the videos (push-ups and pullups), he did a complete and in sequence CFA, documented everything on the CFA document by the CFA administrator, but only uploaded the videos. This was done per the instructions of his Regional AC. They never asked for the CFA report from the date of the videos, only the videos (but he has it, in the event they ever want it). Hope that helps. FWIW, the scores were comparable on both.

The Coast Guard is different. They have the Physical Fitness Exam (PFE) which is just cadenced pushups, situps and a 1.5m run.

My son applied to USAFA, USNA and USMMA. His teacher admin'd the CFA and he submitted it to all three. My son got a note from USAFA that he didn't pass, but USMMA said he passed. USNA accepted his results, but it doesn't really say if he passed or not, since his packet is now complete, I guess we can assume he passed.

So, to answer the original question, i'd say they have different standards.

They all have different standards. Does USMMA even use the CFA? Not sure on that.
