Are Masks coming back?

Yes, “show me your papers“ is on the front porch.

Edit: Virginia gov. just mandated vaccines for state employees. I’m a county employee but it’ll be there soon. I’ve been vaxxed by the way.

In Colorado, state employees must be vaccinated by 9/20 or they will be required to have twice weekly COVID tests. City and County of Denver employees are required to be vaccinated by 9/30.

My university announced vaccine requirement back in June. I've been vaxxed since Feb/Mar and still am getting summoned for testing once or twice per month. We do the testing like the Navy does the "Whiz Quiz" (Operation Golden Flow) everyone seems to get pulled at least monthly.

Going forward, we'll still be testing constantly plus also doing Sewage Testing of the dorms as an additional surveillance.

Literally? Or figuratively?

No kidding. I want to hear about this "sewage testing". o_O

Upstate New York does this.

If they find covid in sewage at colleges, they can tell where to quarantine in communities.

The state university attended by my non-academy children did wastewater testing at residence halls all last school year. They deemed it to be very successful. Apparently, the wastewater test picks up COVID at low concentrations (like one person in 100) which meant that they could detect the virus early. When they got a hit, they would then test individuals and isolate those who were positive in space set aside for quarantining. Meals would be delivered to the students in isolation and academic support was provided. I would imagine they will continue the practice this year as well.

how about these?

As has already been answered, quite literally.
At my school, when a residence hall pops positive, the school electronically disables student keycards so they can't get back inside the dorms until they have gone to the on-campus testing center and their keycard unblocked by getting the COVID test.

Wow 😮

So what we really need are toilet tester tabs. Brilliant. A new home invention!

I had no idea

I've written here before, I'm a huge vaxx guy. Given 10's of thousands and received hundreds.

Also a huge personal freedom believer. Also however, a believer in the government's responsibility in a public health crisis.

Yes, one should have the choice to not receive the vaccine but private companies for sure have the right to require masks, or shoes and shirts, sorry Chesney, in their place of business. The government's legal authority to mandate the vaccination of federal employees will be challenged by the strong union those employees enjoy. I'm intimately familiar with the military's authority to require immunizations to its personnel.

Let's say the government, any level, doesn't take steps to protect the public in matters such as fire or police services, then the citizenry would and should go bananas. If for instance the virus continues to flourish and businesses and schools close again, everybody will be up-in-arms about it.

I hate wearing a face covering even though I wore it in my medical duties for 2.5 decades. The Delta variant and the one coming behind it is no joke.

The summer surge of virus transmission and the slow down in the vaccination rate has put us in this situation. I saw an interview of a drug salesman, I mean the CEO of Pfizer, who said his vaccine goes from 95 to 86 percent efficacy in six months and a booster will be needed. Eighty-six percent is a bunch better than the annual flu shot can do but what is the efficacy at one year? We don't know yet. I got my second Pfizer dose in February and surely don't want to be on a ventilator in ICU this Christmas.
Have you heard that the salesman from Pfizer was recently unable to travel to Israel because he isn't vaccinated?

The military health care system has protocols in place to evaluate vaccination for those with certain health or physical conditions. I can’t imagine these would not be developed for the COVID-19 vaccine.
