Are my Academics good enough for West Point? Or I'm below the average?

Hi Guys I have a 3.89 GPA and I ranked 1st or 2nd in my class, I'm very good in History, Geopolitics and social studies, on the other hand I'm not very good in math. How many chances do you think I have based on this data? If I choose the Forghein Affairs course how much math I will face?

Ps: In sports I ranked 4th at the national championship (in my sport) and I speak as a native speaker 2 languages + other 2 that I'm learning including Arabic, this year (before West Point) I will attend University in Europe (this University is considered one of the best in its country)

Thank you in advance for your answers as you know preparing for West Point is stressful but I'm very happy to have at least a vague Idea of my chances ahead.

You have a pretty solid class rank and GPA, but what matters more on the academic side is your standardized testing score (SAT, ACT) without this data, it would be hard to give you a true estimate about your "chances."

While this is good extracurriculars, I believe you lack representation from the leadership aspect of your application. WP is looking for someone who takes the initiative to hold leadership positions within their personal and sports communities, and it seems from what you are saying that you lack this kind of participation. Remember, WP does not necessarily care about personal performance, they're looking to see how well you do in a team setting.

Overall, I think you should do a little bit more research into the WP appointment process before you stress out! You seem very qualified, just work on the certain areas of your application that you lack in and your application will only get stronger!

Your stats and linguistics are really cool. What none of us can speculate on are your essays, interviews, evaluations by teachers etc.
I am not as familiar with USMA as I am with USNA but at heavily weighted STEM schools (USNA) you must earn a bachelor of science degree. That means passing high level math and science courses regardless of major.
You may have some solid essay material with an international college experience and be able to speak to how that prepared you for a difficult schedule and potential as a future leader.

I didn't wrote my leadership experiences, for the SAT I' trying to do them but where I live all testing locations are closed

I didn't wrote my leadership experiences, for the SAT I'm trying to do it but where I live all testing locations are closed. I partecipated at different summer camps organized by NATO, It was a "Military" style camp an I was selected as the leader of the Paintball and Canoe team, I had to work whit people from different countries and whit different mentalities. I partecipated at a few University conferences despite beign a student in High School where I meet professionals and experts from diffrent fields, I was also the leader of different sport teams. What scres me especially is that my SAT score could ruin my whole application specially Math.

You will be completely fine. The level of academics here are much lower than you'd expect. Everyone struggles in something but I'm yet to have a course more difficult than my high school AP classes (with the exception of Calc III).

What are your math grades?

SAT scores?

Certainly you have some good qualities that will stand out.
I tried doing the SAT on Khan Academy (Reading 85% Accuracy, Math 55% Accuracy, Essay 78% Accuracy), as said not beign accept only for Math would be very sad as a thing, I really hope that the admission team will consider all the rest more important than than this. Unfortunately all testing locations are closed where I live

Are you a US citizen? Is English your first language?
Yes I'm a U.S. Citizen but is more than 12 years that I live in Europe, I speak English fluently as a Native speaker but rarely I make some grammar mistakes (like 0.01% of the times) obviously I also speak the local language as a native speaker

Math, Physics, English (+PE, CFA Evaluator, Guidance Counselor): USMA application has a prompt to click requesting evaluations from each.

SAT: Aim for 1400+(700 Math, 700 Verbal).

Fitness Level: Do 11+ pull-ups, 68+ push-ups, 58+ crunches, 6:30 mile.

Sports: Secure varsity letter.

Languages/Academic Awards Honors Certificates: Start collecting them. Provide copies to guidance counselor. Counselor will validate your application. List them in your application.

Essays: Be extremely careful. Your first paragraph above has “Forghein.” If an admissions officer read this.... I’m just saying. Have the English or Journalism teacher review the essays. Know the difference between cadets-midshipmen, navel-naval, 2LT-Ensign.

Leaderships: Clubs, Volunteer groups, scouting, church, nonprofits.

Ok, thanks 👍🏻

Thank you very much for your answers guys, the admission team told me that I'm the first case ever of someone applying directly from outside the U.S. (not as an international student) for this reason I will have to go through a different process for both the nomination and the admission, I really hope to make it 🤞 2026 class

(I noticed that my keyboard is set on the local language for this reason sometimes it corrects words randomly🤦🏼‍♂️)

Also remember in your writing supplements to provide the best side of your character. Remember to remain humble and open-minded!

Maybe tell everyone your year in HS, what math classes you have taken (regular, AP, etc.), grades in those classes in order to get more feedback. The issue is not if you get in, its if you can succeed there.

I find this hard to believe.

No one can accurately tell you what your chances are. The class specs showing academic standards for incoming classes are available for you to do some research. However bare in mind that these are only part of the equation.

There have been several threads here over the years from U.S or dual citizen applicants who lived outside the U.S. You may want to search across all forums, or use Google with “international applicant site:www.serviceacademyforums.com” in the search string.

Good luck to you.
