Long time silent watcher of this group. Hopefully my last as this is rough. Thanks again to the serious posters and ROOs. Your answers always help.
Note to future applicants. Don't play the game of watching ACT scores, team captain etc stuff too much. It will suck you down and you can't explain all of this. Just do your best.
Case in point, my DS number 2 had a much stronger application and scores than DS number 1. Number two did not get a national yet number 1 did.
At the end of the day DS 2 was already offered and accepted a campus based scholarship.
Net difference between the two. One has a pretty big fake check in a picture, the other does not. Other than that it is nothing.
Good luck to all. Stay healthy. Get good grades, please don't neglect anything. Cover your bases. All of them. Our family's road to commissioning has had unique health surprises, all of which have taken time to overcome.
For those of you that only chase grades and ignore the extra events, keep this year's class in mind. The OML is very different this year with academics being valued less than normal.
For those that didn't get offers, show up anyway. Very many get offered on campus scholarships. You will watch those with both and without scholarships fail and succeed. As an older NCO I could tell you many stories about excellent and poor officers, none of those involve what national scholarship they one or what ring they wear.
Well to be truthful, there are a few we yank chain's about the rings.
Be a success, be respectful, learn how to over come and really lead. Not just be a boss.
